Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. We have parties, help people in need, celebrate the Miracle birth of God, and give thanks for family, friends, church, and especially for Jesus being born to die for our sins. It is amazing to think of the way that God deals personally with each one of us. While many of us are enjoying all of these things at Christmas, others are dealing with alcohol or alcoholics, cancer or heart disease, financial deficiencies, relational issues, traffic, violations against their person or their personal property, and mostly the basic problem of sinfulness in the world. Jesus had compassion and we are to share that compassion with those that are dealing with the extreme difficulties of life. Together we as a church have the opportunity to be intentionally missional with the gospel and with our giving. It is my prayer that we will give generously to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Our goal is $24,000. If you will remember, about 60 days ago, I challenged you to start saving $1 a day to be able to give $100 per family to this offering. If 250 families give $100, it will total $25,000 which will exceed the goal. We can all be a part and what a testimony it will be to the world, of our unity and our love. Jesus prayed to the Father for you and this is what He said, “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me, May the Love of Christmas be directed in your life to the Christ of Christmas,

Pastor Andy

AGAPE Save the Date! The AGAPE (Love) Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013. Just as your New Year's resolve for a healthier and fit lifestyle is beginning to wane, we will have a great opportunity to share in a fun and worthwhile event as a church family. The AGAPE Run/Walk is planned as a "first of its kind" outreach of Taylor Road Baptist Church. This year’s theme is “The WORD is Love.” It is anticipated that this will be an annual event to provide encouragement and financial support among brothers and sisters in Christ. "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." (John 15:12) All the proceeds of this year's event will benefit one of our own TRBC families. The Words - Brett, Renee, Andrew, Amelia, and Aaron - are long-time members of our family. Amelia, a strong 16-year- old high school student, is fighting cancer for the second time in her life. Amelia spent her 16th birthday in the hospital and has found herself in some very tough situations; situations that most people her age will never experience. She clings to God's word as her emotional and spiritual strength when she has little or no physical strength. If her treatments stay on schedule, she will complete the roughest part around January 2013 and will continue treatments with an anticipated end date in Summer 2014. Many of you have already extended support for the Word family and God has laid on the hearts of His people the desire to stand with them, prayerfully and financially, as they continue this journey with Amelia. This year’s event includes a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk and 1 mile "fun" run/walk. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to participate. We encourage participants to wear royal-themed costumes to add to the festive nature of the day's activities. Amelia will judge the best costume and award the door prize. Registration for the AGAPE Run/Walk is available through the website ( or through a paper registration available at the Welcome Desk or church office. Plan now to gather with your family and friends for this fun and purposeful event to show your love and share the love of Christ! For those who don't want to run or walk: We are prayerfully and vigorously seeking sponsors to cover all event expenses, including the costs of awards and prizes, time-keeping, t-shirts, and nourishment. Also, we need volunteers to help with set up, on-site registration, course assistance, medical support, finish-line activities, and after-race clean up. And, most importantly, we need prayer warriors! You may contact any AGAPE Run/Walk committee member - Audra Pfannkuche, Michael & Lisa Jones, David & Ruth Givens, Heidi Bowers, Tiffany Thompson, Catherine Moore - to let us know how you can help or to get more information. Also, you can send requests for more information by e-mail to: Facilitator: Dean Finch

David & Ruth Givens Children

Preschoolers learn better if they have visible, tangible, and audible styles. In preschool Sunday school, we cover these learning styles each Sunday. During Christmas, our teachers will have many different activities to teach the real meaning of Christmas. When media, friends, and even family put more emphasis on Santa, the real meaning is a hard concept to grasp for the little minds of preschoolers. To emphasize the birth of Jesus during December, each child will receive a piece of their very own nativity. For the five Sundays in December they will receive 5 pieces. How much fun is it to get this gift every week? Preschool choir will sing on December 9 in the Evening Worship Service. On December 23, we will have a birthday party for JESUS in each classroom. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist in sharing with your child the meaning of Christmas. December is a month filled with activity! Here are some things for Children. Wednesday, December 19, is Tacky Christmas Night at AWANA! This is always a favorite with the kids! They will have a little extra fun, while learning that no matter how "tacky" we are to the world around us, God always loves us and has our best interest at heart. So, dress your kids in their tackiest Christmas apparel for a night of fun!

Wednesday, January 2, is our annual Taylor Road Skate Party at Looney's Skating Rink. The times are 6-8 p.m. We will provide pizza and drinks. Please bring a side or dessert and some friends! Skating is FREE and optional! It's a great time to fellowship, no matter your age or skating ability!

We challenge you to be intentional with all of your Christmas activities. Don't get caught up in the motions and forget what you're celebrating! With each event, take time to point out it's significance, not only to your kids, but also in your own hearts. We wish you all a very happy season of celebrating our Lord's birth!

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Be Obedient Be His hand, Be His feet, Be His voice This is the theme for the annual Lottie Moon Offering. The National Goal for Southern Baptists is $175 million. The Taylor Road Baptist Church goal for 2012 is $24,000. This is a very reachable goal for our church. It is an opportunity to help reach people around the world with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. I encourage you to make this offering gift the best gift of all the gifts that you give this year at Christmas!

Who was Lottie Moon? She was a young lady from Virginia that gave her heart and life to the Lord Jesus and was committed to the cause of foreign missions. She spent 39 years (1873-1912) of her life in China and eventually died of malnutrition because she had given so much of her own food away that her Chinese friends could live. Lottie Moon wrote letters to churches in the United States encouraging them to send money and missionaries to help her with the work in China. She was so inspirational in her compassion for the people of China that the Women Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention made the decision to name a yearly mission offering after Lottie Moon. This offering supports mission work in over 110 countries around the world. Our support will make it possible for missionaries to keep preaching the gospel and discipling people around the world in 2013. Please give generously and give joyfully.

The Music Ministry of Taylor Road Baptist Church is as active as ever this fall semester with preparations for this year’s Christmas programs. The TRBC Bell Ringers, who meet each Sunday evening at 4:00 p.m. in room B202, have been working hard for their upcoming City Tour 2012. The tour kicks off with the bells playing in the grand foyer on December 2 between 10:15 – 10:30 a.m. After the morning worship, they’ll be off to ring in several locations about the Montgomery area. December 16 they’ll be playing in the morning worship service. The graded choirs (Pre School, Children, & Student) will share a variety of seasonal songs during the evening service on December 9 at 6:30 pm. The Children’s choir will assist the Adult choir this year for “The Power of God’s Word” presentation on December 16 at 6:30 p.m. The Adult Choir which rehearses regularly on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. is looking for new recruits that may be willing to sing in the Christmas program, “The Power of God’s Word”, this year. This is ideal for those singers who may be able to make a shorter commitment rather than be active for the entire church year. The music has already been selected, CD’s are available, and the script is being finalized. Those interested in participating in the drama portion of the presentation, please contact Kim Byrom ( The Annual Christmas Eve Service will take place in the Worship center at 5:00 p.m. This has proved over the years to be a terrific time to bring those ‘out of town’ guests together with the TRBC family as we reflect upon the Christ of Christmas.
