THE YOUNGSTOWN ARTS DISTRICT DESIGN WILL CREATE A DISTRICT THAT WILL BENEFIT ECONOMIC VITALITY WITHIN THE CITY WHILE PROMOTING LOCAL TALENT AND CONTRIBUTING TO URBAN REVITALIZATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH. THE YOUNGSTOWN ARTS DISTRICT IS DESIGNED TO ALLOW PEOPLE OF THE CITY AND VISITORS OF THE CITY TO EXPLORE ALL ARTISTIC APPROACHES, INCLUDING DANCE, ART, AND MUSIC. EACH ARTISTIC APPROACH IS NOT RELEGATED TO CERTAIN FORMS, IT ALLOWS THE ARTISTS TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN ANY ART REALM THEY MAY SPECIALIZE, SUCH AS, VOCALS, INSTRUMENTAL, WOOD WORKING, DRAWING, SCULPTURE, FIBER ARTS, PHOTOGRAPHY, GRAPHIC DESIGN, PAINTING, HIP-HOP, JAZZ, ACROBATS, BALLET, MODERN, LYRICAL AND TAP. YOUNGSTOWN’S ART DISTRICT WILL OFFER VITALITY WITHIN THE CITY BY BRINGING IN ARTISTS TO EXPLORE THEIR PASSION AS WELL AS BRING IN NEW VISITORS IN THE CITY. THE ART CAN START TO PROVIDE FOR THE CITY. THE BUILDING ITSELF BRINGS THE DIFFERENT ART FORMS TOGETHER AS ONE WHILE THE SURROUNDING AREA BRINGS THE ARTS TO THE PEOPLE OF YOUNGSTOWN.

THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER WORKS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PROPOSED SPACES THROUGHOUT THE AREA. THE ARTS DISTRICT GOES FROM THE CORNER OF HAZEL ST. AND WEST BOARDMAN TO THE DEYOR PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. THE ARTS DISTRICT WILL ALLOW VISITORS TO EXPLORE ART THROUGHOUT AN EXTENDED AREA AND SEE DIFFERENT ART FORMS AS WELL AS DIFFERENT RESTAURANTS AND RETAIL SHOPS. THE NEW PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IS DESIGNED IN LEVELS TO WORK WITH THE PUBLIC AND ALL THE VISITORS THE ARTS DISTRICT WILL BRING IN. THE BUILDING OPENS UP TO AN OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE AREA WHERE ARTISTS, MUSICIANS AND DANCERS WILL PERFORM FOR THE PUBLIC. THE PERFORMANCE AREA CONNECTS DIRECTLY TO THE CENTRAL CORE OF THE ARTS DISTRICT ALLOWING THE PUBLIC TO SEE THE DIFFERENT ART FORMS BEING PRACTICED AND INTRODUCE THEM TO THE TALENT OF YOUNGSTOWN.

THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER EXHIBITS LAYERS OF ART FORMS THAT CONNECT THROUGH THE ENTIRE BUILDING. EACH FLOOR REPRESENTS A DIFFERENT ART FORM SUCH AS MUSIC, DANCE AND ART. THE BUILDING ALLOWS THE VISITORS TO EXPLORE EACH FORM OF ART AS THEY TRAVEL THROUGH THE BUILDING. THE UNDERGROUND LEVEL IS MADE FOR MUSIC STUDIOS AND TWO SMALL PERFORMANCE HALLS. THIS LEVEL IS ACCESSED ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE BUILDING AND ALLOWS FOR DIRECT ACCESS BY VISITORS FROM THE STREET. BECAUSE THIS LEVEL IS UNDERGROUND IT ALLOWS FOR AN OPTIMAL SOUND BARRIER TO THE FLOORS ABOVE. THE FIRST FLOOR APPEALS TO THE PUBLIC AND CONNECTS WELL WITH THE CORE OF THE ARTS DISRTICT. IT ALLOWS THE COMMUNITY TO BECOME INVOLVED IN DIFFERENT ART FORMS OF THEIR CHOOSING WITH ART STUDIOS AND CLASSROOMS. RETAIL SHOPS ARE ALSO LOCATED ALONG WEST BOARDMAN IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROPOSED RESTAURANTS. THE SECOND FLOOR IS AN OPEN FLOOR MADE OF DANCE STUDIOS. THE STUDIOS ON THIS FLOOR ARE NOT TRADITIONAL IN THE WAY THAT THEY ARE NOT CLOSED OFF. THE ENTIRE AREA IS OPEN AND OVERLOOKS THE COMMUNITY ART STUDIOS TO CONNECT THE SPACES THROUGHOUT THE BUIDLING. TRAVELING TO THE THIRD FLOOR BECOMES HARDER FOR THE TYPICAL VISITOR, IT IS MADE STRICTLY FOR PURSUING ARTISTS GIVING THEM STUDIO SPACES FOR THEIR ARTWORK THEY ARE PURSUING. THE FOURTH FLOOR IS ONLY OPEN TO VISITORS WHEN THE ARTISTS ALLOW IT TO BE OPEN. THIS WAY THE ARTISTS HAVE THEIR PRIVATE SPACE TO PRODUCE THEIR WORK FOR THE COMMUNITY.
