Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers. Welcome to 2013 in sport. We are excited about the opportunities we have to offer our students in sport. Our school sporting motto is, "Uniting families through sport".  We believe that student involvement in sport encourages support of the whanau and it is great way to get involved with your children while they are at school. We have had an overwhelming response to the sports we offer this term. Next week we have teams begin competition in Super League Volleyball, Waterpolo,Cricket in addition to students receiving coaching in Tennis, Trampoline and squash. We also have students participating in Tae Kwon Do, Surfing and Gymnastics and Golf. These are all weekly sports and run throughout Term One. There is a large amount of information with all these sports and it is vital that students attend meetings and return notices to ensure they don't miss out. We are also proud to host our own sporting events throughout the year. The first on our sporting calendar for 2013 being Swimming sports on Tuesday 5th of March at the Greerton Aquatic Centre. In addition there are a multitude of Sport Bay of Plenty and P.B/B.O.P inter-intermediate sporting fixtures this term these include surfing, swimming, touch rugby and open water swimming .

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS At this time of year we are eager to learn about the sporting successes of our students over the recent holiday period. If you have experienced success during the holidays, particularly at a representative level, we would love to hear about it. This is something that is ongoing throughout the year. We like to hear about our students and what they get up to in the sporting arena outside of school hours. The easiest form of communication is by emailing Karen Hampton at karenh@tauranga-int.school.nz with detailed information about the competition title, where and when it was, the grade/level/age group and of course your child’s name and room number. This information can also be written down and delivered to Karen in the Sports Office. We will also be personally meeting and greeting these students and keeping an eye on their future successes during their time at TIS. Often students feel uncomfortable passing this information on themselves so it would be awesome if you could help out in this area. If we don’t know about it then we can’t congratulate them and give them the accolades they deserve!
