My name is Tauana Marques de Freitas. I was born in Brazil and currently reside in Manhattan. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning and a master in Interior Design. My experiences started in 2009, during college. I have worked in urban planning and also with residential and commercial architecture, but I cannot deny that my passion has always been interior design and how a space that already exists can be reinvented. I started to work in Interior design in 2010 for a big firm in Brazil where I became a Junior Architect. I was part of a team and worked essentially with concepts and different stages of project preconstruction and assisted during the construction. That experience gave me a good understanding of the different stages that a project requires. In 2012, I started my own firm focusing on residential and commercial interior design projects. This experience on my own helped me to understand the client and designer relationship, and the complexity of each individual project. For me, it just makes sense if the process is in a continuous transformation that provides several involvements. When I think about my professional career in design it is interesting how the different scales that I have experienced have led to a basic understanding. Regardless of what I design, a neighborhood or a chair; the most important thing is always the user. Following this idea, my inspirations come from people and their necessities. The role of an architect or a designer is to provide new and surprising experiences that go beyond requirements in order to create distinctive projects. My ideas are always inspired by a connection to history. My projects do not ignore anything that already exists. It is important for an artist to know that sometimes we do not need to start from scratch to create something innovative and that art or design is just an evolution through time. My future plans are dedicated to interior design and art, my new passion. I am looking for great experiences and ready to be challenged with new visions, languages, and practice in this creative profession. I am ready to be inspired to produce the best of me and am fully prepared to exchange ideas, creativity, and points of view with a lot of work and dedication.

The Resort House is a collection of houses located in Hudson Woods, a community in Kerhonkson, upstate NY. The development includes 26 dwellings on 131 forested acres. All the properties have the Scandinavian architecture as a reference and they are totally integrated into the natural landscape. presentation boards

The project started with 2 buildings: the main house and garage. After 2 years, 4 more buildings were added: screened porch, pool house, greenhouse, and a tree house and observatory. An escape from the city and an interior designer that dialogues with the scenario have guided the concept of this project. More than 300 different pieces were carefully selected in vintage shops and galleries specialized with mid-century design and completed with custom pieces made by local designers. The millwork incorporated the white oak planks that are present on the walls, ceiling, and floor. The art has the Hudson River school as a reference, including artists from the first and the second period that painted familiar places close to the house.

The two-bedroom home is located on the 63rd floor of the Four Seasons Private Residences, close to City Hall. It is a designer and photographer house with brand-name furnishings and a monochrome palette to create a minimal apartment in Lower Manhattan

White walls, monochrome furnishings and an abundance of natural light merge to create a minimal, gallery-like space. Furnishings were chosen to complement this pale backdrop and include a combination of contemporary, vintage, high-end and custom-made designs.

finishes

The design concept is inspired by the atmosphere present at 700 feet. A space suspended in the sky composed of warm whites and soft varied textures. It’s a balance and composition between function, form, lines, negative space, and light created with objects and materials artfully arranged.

NATURE HOUSE Holiday Houses - Fazenda Boa Vista, Brazil type Professional - Team/2015 Residential house

floor plans Nature Houses is an architectural and design development with 12 houses located in the middle of the tropical forest in SĂŁo Paulo.

The project was born from the idea of valuing the green and the landscape. The single-store houses are organized in a linear manner, creating flat gardens and decks that provide continuity of the room and suites. Intimate and social areas do not confront and sides without doors or windows guarantee total privacy. The vegetation surrounds the whole house and enhances the view from wherever one looks. The interior design and the curated furnishings, accessories and art were part of the architectural studies. In this way, the objects complement the space and propose a feeling of an informal and elegant space that holiday houses should have.

S. is a small, high-end vegan restaurant in the Middle of East Village. It is a basement of 1500sq/ft connected to a double height skylight room and backyard.

The concept is informed by the human senses and how our perceptual acuity changes throughout the seasons. Each of the five senses - the taste naturally, the sight and smell, but also touch and hearing - is considered with attention, its longings and cravings understood and realized through sustenance and atmosphere.

The space is a clean architectural shell thought to provide a comfortable experience and a better interaction with each season. The low ceiling height of 8’ is exaggerated with the curved ceiling and wall and minimized by the vertical lines. The acoustic plaster on the ceilings and walls, original wood floor and some small touch of terrazzo and cooper elements connect the different dining areas. The S. experience begins as one enters through the Flower Shop, which is fully open from the street and spills into the chef’s tables pace like a front garden spilling into a kitchen. Long table, fireplace, and the open kitchen instill a sense welcome. Then the guests take their places in the dining room under the large skylight and different flower installations during the year. A small backyard garden is the final of an enjoyed night. Everything one sees and touches is tactile and genuine. The air smells of plants.

reception V. is a boutique hedge fund company specializing in biotechnology and pharma. It is a loft of 3550 sq/ ft, remarkably characterized by exposed structural elements of the cast iron industrial building.

The carefully proportioned plan creates a central core dedicated to the open area work stations surrounded by a perimeter of private spaces.

conference rooms

The central work area benefits from a full height space obtained by displaying the preexistent structure of the building and enhanced by intense daylight and white surfaces. This central core is metaphorically the spine of the working activity. Similarly, the spatial rhythm of the private spaces is generated by the exposed brick and concrete of the building. Here a dropped roof of slat wood hides the infrastructures while keeping visual contact with the building structure, as well as providing the feeling of being in a taller space yet creating the warm comfortable atmosphere of intimacy. Preexistence and new are harmonized through colors, materials, and shapes. Every working space is designed as belonging to the whole without losing its individual character. The bank is understood as a community or family and the project is designed to emphasize the idea of a network of people working side by side.

DYNAMIC SPACE Everlane pop-up store category Academic - Master (Interior Design) / 2015 Retail entrance and new collection

The space is a white cube with a metallic structure in the ceiling that accommodates flexible and vertical elements used as hangers or supports for shelves. The “inverse pillars are arranged in a grid all over the store and they slide in one direction, providing different layouts during the different seasons. In this way, the structure and dynamics of buying can be connected with brand philosophy.

basic pieces

transparency process

The basic idea is to create a simple and functional store where the client can find what he/she is looking for and pay in within minutes. For this, the pieces exposed have the same color and just differ in size. After, the client can get the product (right color and size) inside the boxes that are under the hangers and pay at the I-Pads that are distributed in the store.

New York is urban, comes from the street and different arts make this city an interesting space. The urban art school provides different classes related to street art and urban design. The building is a typical brick construction located in Soho with open floors.

The design inspiration comes from the street. Public spaces are combined with the necessary privacy for a school. The building is divided into two (social area / public x functional program / private) by a stair and a huge mural. These elements translate the casual, multi-functional and integrating atmosphere. The materials come from the street also. The floor remembers the metallic grid founded on the sidewalks and subway in NYC, providing shadow and light relations between different floors. All the spaces are connected and the furniture helps to adapt the areas according to the different programs, events, and class that is happening.

embankment

The Cultural intervention in São Sebastião is the result of a study about the construction of the space, related to the cultural identity of each territory and their popular demands. The proposed project is an alternative plan for an embankment between the sea and the historical center of São Sebastião at São Paulo coast. This plan tries to attach the lifestyle of the city with the preservation of urban patrimony, tourism, and economic development. A training school for artisans is proposed in a way to extend the maintenance of their culture while stimulating the people’s participation in the organization of the city, making the architectural object a direct response to social and local demand. A modern architecture contrasts with the historical center and the park and outdoor recreation area. The historical center and the water board are not visually cut, preserving the scenario from old times.
