Journals. One hundred and three abstracts were presented in Brazilian and International Congresses and 8 book chapters were published. An international patent for the “Use of phthalimide and/or sulphonamide derivatives in the treatment of disases which require reducing the TNF alpha levels and an exogenous source of nitric oxide, phthalimide derivatives, sulphonamide derivatives and a method for obtaining a sulphonamide derivative” (Jean Leandro dos Santos, Chung Man Chin, Lidia Moreira Lima, Fernando Ferreira Costa and Carolina Lanaro Patente PCT/ BR 2008/000386) has been submitted. Over ten Brazilian and International Awards were received, including: PRÊMIO ANÁLISE MEDICINA 2009 (Sara TO Saad, Fernando F. Costa); in Medicine, for editorial analyses and international travel grants. The project received 15 Masters Degree and 24 Doctorate Degree students, 9 Post Doctoral Fellows, 5 Technical scholarships (DTI) and 30 trainees (high school/college graduates). During this period, 10 Masters Thesis and 7 Doctoral Thesis were defended, and 5 post-doctoral projects were completed.
