OPPORTUNITY Energy from Waste (EfW) currently accounts for just 1.5% of the UK’s total electricity requirements. In the next decade this is forecast to increase to 6% saving some 34 million tonnes of CO2 emissions and playing a crucial role in helping the UK achieve its landfill diversion targets.
Lafarge Tarmac Cement & Lime is the UK’s largest supplier of lime for the EfW market. Our products play a crucial part in making established technologies cleaner and new technologies more efficient. Hydrated lime is widely used for EfW flue gas treatment. We’ve developed grades of ‘Limbux’ hydrated lime optimised for large modern EfW plants to provide maximum efficiency and ease of handling. Similarly our ‘Calbux’ quicklime products comprise a range of high purity quicklime’s with reactivity and particle size characteristics to suit all processes. We work with our customers, their designers and contractors to identify the most efficient, sustainable solution for each individual project. This includes advice on plant and process, identifying appropriate grades of product and providing ongoing expert support - all contributing to your return on investment.
Demand for high purity lime in the energy from Waste sector is forecasted to grow by up to 250,000 tonne over the next five years.
