PARK.ING DAY SECOND YEAR REPRESENT STUDIO

PG 1

STARTED IN 2005 BY THE FIRM REBAR IN SAN FRANCISCO, PARK.ING DAY IS A WORLDWIDE EVENT WHERE DESIGNERS CREATE USABLE SPACE OUT OF URBAN PARKING SPOTS. EVERY YEAR THE CITY OF LINCOLN AND AIA PUT ON THE EVENT LOCALLY AND 2ND YEAR ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS BUILD/ EXHIBIT THEIR DESIGNS.

THE CITY IS A CONTEXT IN WHICH SOCIAL ENERGY THRIVES. “URBAN MIRAGE” AMPLIFIES THIS ENERGY WITHIN LINCOLN BY RE-FRAMING THE ICONIC MOMENTS OF THE CITY. THE USE OF MIRRORS TO REFLECT VARIOUS LINES OF SITE ALLOWS THE USER TO SEE THE EVERYDAY IN UNUSUAL WAYS. THE MODULES CREATE A SENSE OF DEPTH THAT ENGAGES THE USER AND DRAWS THEM INTO THE SPACE.

MANUAL OF SUBURBAN SUBVERSION

AN INVESTIGATION OF SUBURBAN TYPOLOGIES UCARE 2019-2020

WITH DR. ZAC PORTER

THIS RESEARCH BEGINS TO LOOK AT SUBURBAN BUILDINGS (SHOPPING MALLS, BIG BOX STORES, GAS STATIONS, ETC) NOT FROM A CRITICAL LENS, BUT ONE OF VALID ARCHITECTURE. ABOVE IS THE FIRST STEP OF ANALYZING MALL TYPOLOGIES. THIS RESEARCH IS CURRENTLY ONGOING AND WILL USE THESE TYPOLOGIES TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES OF HOW WE THINK OF THE SHOPPING MALL. PG 15
