Systems ThinkingA banyan Tree and a Terrarium are systems where elements co-exist with each other in harmony. Individual elements are co-dependent which vary from the smallest to the largest element to form a whole. For example- from ants to bears. A Parade is a system where syncronisation and co-ordination are an essential part of the system. Where each element influences the other elementFrom the muscles of the body co-ordinating with each other to the group participating in the parade. It is a framework of relationships between the parts of the whole. The parts are co-dependent and co-exist with each other.

Emotions, Expressions and Experiences in Interior Spaces
Jewish Museum Designer: Daniel Libeskind Location: Berlin
Built: 2001 Theme: Repercussions of the Holocaust in Germany
About the project:
Exhibits the social, political and cultural history of the Jews in Germany from the fourth century to the present, explicitly presenting and integrating, in postwar Germany, the repercussions of the Holocaust. The Extension to the old Museum is a Zig Zag Shaped building and take its form from an abstracted Jewish Star that is stretched around the site and its context. On the entry, Visitors lose the sense of direction before coming to a cross road of 3 Routes : 1) Continuity of German history. 2)Emigration from Germany. 3)The Holocaust.

Inference: The Architecture is a means of a narrative and emotional Journey. The Material brings in a cold atmosphere and overwhelming experience created by the lack of windows and small Slits of light. The visitors most of the time leave wounded and tormented by the history especially The Holocaust and the sufferings caused during that time. Light, Shadow and the material heighten one’s senses and bring out emotions like Anger, Compassion, Disgust and Fear.
Sancaklar Mosque Designer: Emre Arolat Architects Location: Büyükçekmece, Turkey
Built: 2012 Theme: Non- Traditional Mosque set in Turkey.
About the project:
Sancaklar steers away from using the symbols, forms and decorations that are normally portrayed in traditional mosque design. instead, the building expresses spirituality through the contrasts in light, shadow, materiality and aesthetics to produce a peaceful sanctum for prayer. A combination of light grey stone and reinforced concrete to construct the Sancaklar Mosque, which is set into a plaza made up of shallow terraced steps. The pared-back and unornamented structure is set into a depression in the landscape, with only the stone roof and a tall minaret visible from certain points around the perimeter.

Slit in the Wall and Play of Light - Non Traditional Mosque Inference: Light plays a major Role in highlighting the space in terms of the Material and the texture of the material creating a mesmerising experience where one disconnects from the outside world, prays in silence and is alone with the God. The exterior and the interior materials have a stark contrast providing the visitor with two different experiences (i.e) Earthy and raw in exteriors and Divine and Holy in interiors bringing out emotions like Tranquality, Compassion and Valour.
