Gauteng Community Safety condemns the conduct of a senseless driver

You are invited to the

tame TIMES

Art Auction Date : 02 October 2019 Time : 19H00 Dress : Business attire

The 2018 tame TIMES Art Auction was such a resounding success, that we decided to make it an annual event. Through this event we will be auctioning artworks via a process of Bidding from a range of established and upcoming South African artists. All proceeds from this auction will go towards a local community program through involvement at Holding Hands. A digital catalogue will be supplied closer to the date. We hope you’ll be able to join us for this auspicious event.

HECTIC SCHEDULE?

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety condemns with contempt the conduct of a 27-year-old female driver who was seen driving her car with a female traffic officer from Gauteng Traffic Police on her bonnet. According to preliminary information, the incident happened in Krugersdorp, on the 13th of September 2019. The Gauteng Traffic Police officer was in the process of issuing the driver with a traffic fine for using a cellphone while driving and the driver chose to drive off and in the process the officer tried to stop her. The driver was immediately arrested for failing to comply with an instruction of a traffic officer, reckless driving and resisting arrest. A fine was also issued for driving while on a cellphone.

“The conduct displayed by the driver is not only reckless but also smacks of arrogance. With the province experiencing a high number of unnecessary crashes and fatalities on our roads, it is of utmost importance that our law enforcement agencies should stamp their authority on those who disregard the rules of the road. Drivers are supposed to conduct themselves in a manner that is acceptable and respect authorities. The conduct of the driver in question is punishable at all costs and will never be allowed. Irrespective of the attitude of road users, we will continue to stamp our authority and do our work without fear and favour,’’ said departmental Spokesperson, Ofentse Morwane.

Wounded Warrior needing a happy home Meet our village dog dubbed “Smoke”

September 2019

That’s all you need, per hour, to REALLY get your business going!

The Alberton SPCA suspected that the burn marks on the center of his back may have been attributed to someone throwing boiling water on him. Mange, to those who may not know, would be like eczema for humans. It causes the hair to fall out and the skin to become inflamed. Smoke is currently under treatment therefore no need to fear him spreading his “disease” to your other doggies.

pier ending than the beginning of his life. “As we started treatment we noticed that he loved food, so much so that this became our way of getting him more and more out of his shell. Before you decide to call and apply to adopt Smoke we need to explain the kind of doggie he is and what we are looking for in the person who wants to adopt him. Although to some he looks like a hyena, Smoke is a village dog. By definition village dogs like to scavenge for their food. Their social nature means they need to go for walks, require a big space (unfortunately a garden will not suffice as they are escape artists) and to be interacted with on a regular basis,“ said a spokesperson for the Alberton SPCA. He is extremely smart so mind games and scavenger hunts for his toys or food around a plot would be perfect. He is roughly 6 months old and would be a great addition to any family. Do not hesitate to come through and meet our diamond in the rough.

The Alberton SPCA said to tame TIMES when Smoke came into the pound he was so scared and bleeding from that giant scar on his back that he would not come close to anyone and just sat in the corner. The Alberton SPCA knew that this dog deserved not only a fair chance but a hap-

Springboks punished by All Blacks in World Cup opener By: Herman Mostert - Sport24

The Springboks went down to the All Blacks in a hard-fought Rugby World Cup encounter in Yokohama on Saturday. The two-time defending world champions won 23-13, after leading 17-3 at half-time. The South Africans fought back well in the second period, but the Kiwis kept their composure to close the game out in the latter stages. The Boks took an early lead via a Handre Pollard penalty and bossed the early exchanges. However, momentum appeared to swing when Pollard missed an easy penalty attempt for a 6-0 South African lead. Soon afterwards, the All Blacks capital-

ised on a weak pass from scrumhalf Faf de Klerk to lay siege on the Bok tryline. They couldn’t get through, but won a penalty, with flyhalf Richie Mo’unga levelling matters after 22 minutes. The All Blacks showed renewed vigour and troubled the Boks with their expansive game, scoring two quick-fire tries via wing George Bridge and lock Scott Barrett. Suddenly, the scoreline read 17-3 in New Zealand’s favour and it looked a long way back for South Africa. But the Springboks slowly regained their composure and fought back gallantly in

the second half. In the 47th minute, flank Pieter-Steph du Toit barged over next to the posts after a concerted period of attack to reduce the deficit to seven points. A long-range drop goal from Pollard made the score 17-13 midway through the second half, but New Zealand showed class and composure in the manner in which they closed out the match. Two late penalties from Mo’unga and Beauden Barrett took the score to 23-13 which settled matters. The Boks were heavily penalised by French referee Jerome Garces - the penalty count was 9-4 in favour of the All Blacks - and they will no doubt question

a few of his calls, especially at the breakdown and scrum time. Wing Cheslin Kolbe was a standout for South Africa. He was sound under the high ball, solid in defence and troubled New Zealand with several sniping breaks. He limped off late in the Test with a leg injury which will be of grave concern for coach Rassie Erasmus. The Boks also lost replacement prop Trevor Nyakane with what looked like a serious leg injury. South Africa’s next match is against Namibia in Toyota next Saturday (September 28), while New Zealand will be in action against Canada in Oita on Wednesday, October 2.
