Your health checklist for 2014

A note from the Editor Growing up I was told that I belonged to a generation of people who would have to reinvent themselves at least three times in terms of careers. I write this as someone who has lived the ‘at-least’ in the space of two years and I By Ndu Ngwenya find myself both frightened and excited, I mean how many more lives do I have left? Before I joined tame TIMES, I worked as a promoter for a band that got signed by a recording company, who then took over all of my former duties. I joined tame TIMES in July of 2012 as

a freelance graphic designer; I became permanent in February of 2013. Exactly 12 months after initially joining the newspaper, July 2013, I moved to the editorial side of the paper, firstly as a sports journalist. Today, another six months later, I’m writing my first editor’s note. I mention this not as a boast but for two other reasons: firstly I’m tracing my development to introduce myself to the community I’ve lived in since 1996. Secondly I mention this to emphasise, especially to the recent school leavers, that anything is possible. I’m a true product of those who came before me, my parents (Bafana and Nhlanhlazonke Ngwenya), my friend and former editor of tame TIMES, Monica Supra and many more individuals who have played a role in shaping me. I believe I’m adequately equipped to serve the community of Alberton and I hereby pledge to do so in the best way I know how.
