Snow Conditions and Mountain Experience: This winter has been fantastic for snow lovers! Thanks to our dedicated grooming team, every groomable trail on the mountain is now in prime condition, offering an incredible carving experience . We’ve had a range of conditions this season, and the powder days have been exceptional As we wrap up our snowmaking efforts, we’re confident that the snowpack will provide excellent skiing into the spring

Dining Highlights: Our Dining venues continue to impress, with the Mid Mountain Lodge now officially named the Alfredo Miguel Afif Mountain Lodge . Thank you for your continued support as we strive to create memorable dining experiences

The Club at Tamarack: Winter at the Club is in full swing, and we are offering a variety of activities including ski, snowboarding, and cross-country lessons, mid-mountain brunches, and our ever-popular Member Wine Dinner with Chef Topple, featuring exquisite wines from around the world . Join us for unforgettable evenings and great company!

Nordic Skiing: The Nordic Shop is open daily from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with grooming in progress every day between midnight and 9 AM. We’re also excited to announce that the Nordic Pulse APP and website is available, providing real-time grooming updates.

Golf and Recreation: Our Golf Simulator is open Thursday through Monday from 12 PM to 8 PM, offering weekly competitions and private lessons. A quick check on our Social Green shows minimal ice. We will continue to monitor the course conditions for any necessary clearing.

We are super excited to have Abby Vazquez join the Tamarack Team in the pivotal role of Director of Catering. The group and event side of Tamarack Resort has elevated the entire dining, special event, and catering business. And people are taking notice. Cosmopolitan magazine regards Tamarack as the premier wedding venue in the state of Idaho. And why not, Tamarack is a stunning, full-service, all-season mountain resort with a variety of venues and amenities to accommodate virtually any group. As Director of Catering, Abby serves a critical role in establishing Tamarack as the premier wedding and special event destination in the region.

Q: WELCOME ABBY, YOU HAVE REALLY HIT THE GROUND RUNNING, HAVEN’T YOU?

ABBY: “Haha, you could say that. I’ve been here a couple months and we have been making great strides. The team is awesome and we all work together so well, the TamFam thing is true. This is a very special place and I am thrilled to be the Director of Catering at such a coveted resort and meeting destination.”

Q: I KNOW YOU CAME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

ABBY: “That’s nice of you to say, thank you. I have spent a lot of time working with high-end resorts and clubs, most recently at a private Club in Big Sky, Montana. So, I am used to the frenetic pace and pressure and variables that go with catering for large and small groups, especially when the client’s expectations are so high.”

Q: WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT IN YOUR NEW ROLE

ABBY: “So many things. The opening of the Mid Mountain Lodge for one. What a great new venue for parties and events. One of my first big events was official Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting of the Mid Mountain Lodge on December 27. It was a lot of work but everyone loved it and so much fun. Guests stayed so late they couldn’t take the chairlift--we took them back down in the all-terrain vehicles. It was such a fun night and a great initiation for me into the TamFam.”

Q: TELL US WHAT YOUR PRIORITIES ARE AS DIRECTOR OF CATERING?

ABBY: “We want to really elevate and expand our wedding business. We have the perfect setting, multiple venues like The Village, Mid Mountain Lodge, and the award-winning Arling Center, which has garnered numerous awards as a premier wedding destination within Tamarack. And now the Mid Mountain Lodge gives people another great option for weddings and special events. We also have great outdoor venues with stunning views of the mountains, lake, and golf course. So, we have everything in place and now my focus is preparing new menus, planning meals, coordinating with planners, and basically doing everything we can to make each event seamless and turnkey. We want potential guests to know that we sweat the details and make it easy for them.”

Q: WHAT TYPE EVENTS DO YOU THINK WOULD ARE IDEAL FOR TAMARACK, GIVEN OUR FLEXIBILITY AND MULTIPLE VENUE OPTIONS?

ABBY: “Weddings, of course. That’s definitely a sweet spot. But we also host a wide variety of functions and special events: anniversaries, engagement parties, corporate meetings, corporate retreats, business lunches, formals, graduations, and so on. We can do it all at Tamarack, we have the staff and facilities and resources to make your experience unforgettable. As for size, we are also flexible. We can handle up to 200 people easily, and more if it is an outdoor venue during the spring, summer, or fall.”

SCOTT GENTA

Scott grew up in the Boise region (in Caldwell), and became well-acquainted with the outdoor, mountain lifestyle as a boy and teenager…until he moved, that is. He matriculated to college and then Arizona, where he embarked on a career in chemical engineering that took him all over the world—places like Australia, Italy, Costa Rica, to name but three. In spite of the successful globetrotting, Scott found himself thinking a lot about the Idaho mountains and how he missed them: “I couldn’t wait to get out of Idaho then and now I can’t wait to get back.” And he did just that. Just a couple weeks ago, on January 15 to be exact, Scott closed on his Calvi II Residence and got a Club Membership, to boot. He is officially a TamFam Member and he’s stoked.

Q: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW CALVI II RESIDENCE.

SCOTT: “Yeah, thanks. I’m pretty excited I was able to get one, I think there are only a couple left. But it’s perfect, right in the Village, near skiing and the amenities and dining.”

Q: IS THAT WHY YOU CHOSE CALVI II? BECAUSE OF THE SKIING ACCESS?

SCOTT: “Actually no. I mean, I do ski, and have skied all my life, but as I get older, I find myself mountain biking and playing golf more. In fact, the reason I bought here—at this particular point in time—is because of the newly opened golf course. That was what pushed me over the top.”

Q: THAT’S SO COOL.

SCOTT: “Well, I played the old course here, way back when, the original Robert Trent Jones II version. And I loved it. So, when I heard they were resurrecting it and making it even better, I was all in. That and the mountain biking are what I find myself doing most. We just love the outdoors. I even got my daughter on a mountain bike up here—for the first time, this past summer.”

Q: THAT’S AWESOME. HOW MANY KIDS? ARE THEY EXCITED ABOUT TAMARACK ALSO?

SCOTT: “They are. I have two…a son 21 and a daughter 18. And they came up this summer with me and had a blast. I love the course here, as I said, and I really like the Mid Mountain Lodge, too. What a great facility, very fun to hang out there. They really did a great job. The finished building is incredible. It’s gonna be a lot of fun for all of us.”

Q: IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE AT TAMARACK, FOR SURE. SO MANY GOOD THINGS. IT SOUNDS LIKE GOLF IS A BIG PART OF YOUR LIFE NOW.

SCOTT: “It is, and pretty much always has been. Golf is something I am still passionate about. I absolutely love the new 18 holes plus one up here—how the course plays, how it flows, the opportunities for shot-making and so on. It plays different every day like the very best mountain courses do. I love that. It always presents new variables or conditions. The Osprey Meadows Course is already in my Top 10 Courses of all time. I mean that and I have played golf all over the world.”

Haden has an accomplished 18-year career in real estate and has represented both buyers and sellers in Valley County since 2005. Haden is also among the few real estate professionals in Idaho who have earned the Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) designation as well as the ePro designation. Prior to joining Tamarack Realty, Haden was the Idaho Designated Broker for Vacasa Real Estate, a position he’s held since 2019. Haden is a Boise State University graduate with a degree in History and Secondary Education.

Haden enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves mountain biking, hiking, fishing, camping, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, white water rafting, swimming, boating, surfing, wakeboarding, flying, and spending time with family and friends. Haden comes from a family with diverse real estate backgrounds including development, construction, sales, title, and escrow; he truly understands all aspects of real estate with a focus on resort properties.

1. CAN YOU TELL US A HIDDEN GEM IN VALLEY COUNTY THAT ONLY LOCALS KNOW ABOUT?

The Little Ski Hill just outside of McCall on HWY 55. With amazing afterschool ski programs coupled with the only night skiing within 100+ miles makes this little hidden gem a lot of fun.

2. IN THREE SENTENCES OR LESS TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

My wife Kaila and I have two amazing kids who grew up here in McCall. We enjoy all outdoor recreation activities all year long. I truly enjoy snowboarding, skiing, hockey, surfing, mountain biking and hiking all of the public land surrounding us the most. I grew up in Sun Valley Idaho where my family was involved in real estate, development, construction, title and escrow. I was raised in a resort community in the real estate side of life and loved every minute of it.

3. WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOUR FAVORITE VIEW POINT IN TAMARACK?

My favorite view of Tamarack has to be from the summit just as I am about to head down the mountain with Cascade Lake and the Needles Range as a backdrop.

4. DONNELLY IS KNOWN AS THE CROSSROADS TO RECREATION, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO RECREATE?

In the winter hands down skiing and snowboarding at Tamarack Resort. Great terrain park, tree riding, and smooth flowing groomers, ideal for any rider from beginner to expert. And then jumping on a snowmobile and hitting the hundreds of miles of trails with unparalleled panoramic views of the entire area.

5. IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Fly, my grandfather, father and brother all had pilots licenses and I would love to learn to fly one day.

6. WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT LIVING IN TAMARACK RESORT?

The direct access to all of the recreation that we love the most. Followed closely by the great aprés mountain food, drinks and entertainment. There is not a single day that we cannot find something fun and exciting to do.

7. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO SELL OR BUY RIGHT NOW?

My best advice (coming from someone who’s daughter moved away her senior year and son moved away his freshman year to pursue their hockey dreams) is that NOW is the time to buy to start making memories that will last lifetimes and generations. I did not expect my kids to move away so soon and thankful and glad for every memory we made in Valley County. A person can think they have “more time” however we truly never know and the memories we made with them throughout the years while they lived here stick with them the most as they are away at school. Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
