Case Resolution Mix the following segments and have the students place them in the correct order to show how Inspector Tiger resolved the case and revealed the true identity of the ABC murderer . . . This is how it happened…..
Mr. Franklin Clarke met A.B.Cust at the dominoes club. His lapses of memory, his insignificant personality and his initials: A.B. Cust gave Franklin the idea for the whole alphabetical plan. The fact that his brother's name began with a C and that he lived at Churston were perfect. Mr. Franklin wrote to Mr. Cust offering him a job. He sent him the stockings, and once the victims were selected, he sent Cust the list of clients that he should visit. Franklin then typed all the letters that he would send to Inspector Tiger, and then sent Mr. Cust the same machine as a present. Mr. Cust is instructed to go to Andover to visit several clients, including Mrs. Ascher. Later that day, Mrs. Ascher is brutally murdered. Franklin then sent Cust to Bexhill and Megan bought stockings for her sister. That night Elizabeth is strangled on the beach. Next, Franklin brother's murder. The third letter got lost intentionally so the police wouldn't stop him. He had to kill his brother. He sent Mr. Cust to Churston. There Mr Cust sold stockings to Miss Grey, and then Franklin killed his brother. After this murder, Franklin had no wish to commit any more murders
but he had to, if not he could become a suspect. So, he sent Mr. Cust to Doncaster. Mr. Cust´s landlady made Cust realize that he had been to every place where there had been a murder. He lost his nerve, but felt that he had to go because it was his duty. At Doncaster, Franklin followed Mr. Cust to a cinema. When the film was over, he stabbed a man in the row in front, and when Mr. Cust passed by, wiped some blood on his sleeve and slipped the knife into his pocket. He didn’t mind choosing a victim whose name didn´t begin with D. It would be considered to be a mistake. Mr. Cust went to his room and found blood and the knife in his pocket. Because of his blanks he obviously believed he was the killer! While washing his hands, the maid opened the door and saw him. That is why the maid called Inspector Tiger.
Even though all the evidence pointed to Mr. Cust something just didn’t add up and the Inspector Tiger of course would not let it go until she had revealed the real true identity of the ABC murders!
