Gero’s Journal : A ruffled wakening

M

y alarm clock vibrates for the hundredth time under my pillow. I know I’m late. I shouldn’t have drunk all that vodka last night. I turn around and my body hits another. I look up with difficulty. A girl is in bed with me. I do not remember it. I never remember this kind of girl. This kind of girl picked up at the end of the night. They only bring me as much as they are wiling to give. My head is heavy as a rock but I have to go to school today. If I miss it, I would definitely get expelled. I push the duvet on the body of the girl. It’s a brunette with a lot of hair. I cannot see her face. I’m not interested. I’m late.

W

ith a dizzy head, I look for my pants and long sleeve polo shirt that I wore yesterday if I’m not mistaken. I put everything on before attaching my watch on my wrist. 8:05. Before leaving the room, I want to go near the bed.

I

sit beside the manicured feet of the girl whose brown hair still impresses me.

“Uh ... Miss ...” I don’t know her name. She turns towards me. She has a face that could be really pretty without all that sank make-up all over her face and her pupils dilated by alcohol. She moans a little before opening her eyes in my direction. Her eyes were burning, clearly. “You need to go. When you leave slam the door after you, I took the key alright? “ New groan response. She put her fingers in her mane.

“ It was...cool...that night with you. “

S

he gives me a weak smile and mimes me a kiss with her mouth in a heart shape before dropping her crazy curls on the fabric of the pillow. Ok, hopefully she will not be there when I get back.

I

walk to the station which is just minutes from home. The cool wind wakes me up a little. I’ll rinse my face with water when arriving in the school grounds. Anyways, who will notice? I walk into a crowded train car. I stand up fearing to fall asleep otherwise. The stops follow each other. In the hypnotic rhythm of the train movements , my eyes landed on a girl. It’s not her beauty that got my attention. It’s her way to look at the young man a few seats away who is chewing a gum pretty loudly. He’s making large pink bubbles.

I

do not care. But she seems to be totally fascinated. As if it reminded her of things. Here comes the stop I have to get off on. She stands up looks at me briefly as if she didn’t see me and get off. It left me almost stuck. Just before the bell, I get out off the train car after her. She’s walking to school. Despite the headache that twisting my brain, I said to myself that this day could be more interesting than its beginning.
