More Lighting Designers, Engineers and Architects are seeking the performance and economic advantages of utilizing these light sources in their design. Unlike the single, centralized point sources employed in traditional lamps, LED diodes function as multiple points of omni-directional light. The patent pending MicroEmitter™ system developed by Kim Lighting opens up new possibilities in light distribution patterns unachievable with traditional reflector and refractor optical systems. The combination of several MicroEmitters within an optical system shapes, points, and tightly controls light toward the desired task. As a result, Kim Lighting’s MicroEmitter optical system has the ability to recreate any pattern of light to suit any application. IES classified distributions (Type I, II, III, IV and V) are achievable as are unique, custom optics specific to the project’s need.

Precision Uniformity The MicroEmitter optic harnesses light toward the horizontal plane producing footcandle levels for a safe and evenly lit environment, while reducing nadir dump (unnecessary light concentration beneath the luminaire). Nadir dump results in poor max-to-min ratios and creates energy waste. By re-aiming the nadir energy, MicroEmitter optics produce a more precise placement of light for superior uniformity, improved target coverage, control glare and reduce electrical consumption.

Thermal Management

Dual Heat Management with Exclusive LifeShield Protection System ®

MicroEmitter™ LED luminaires employ two distinct but complimentary methods to manage the life-limiting heat produced by the LED diode. Both conduction and convection are used to disperse heat, thereby maintaining diode performance and long life. Heat is drawn away from the housing chamber and dispersed into the free air around the luminaire. Additionally, each MicroEmitter module incorporates a solid aluminum heat sink, which is mechanically secured to the EmitterDeck™. The EmitterDeck is composed of a heavy gauge aluminum carrier plate and is affixed directly to the housing to dissipate heat to the outside environment. LIFESHIELD® PROTECTION SYSTEM

AUTOMATIC THERMAL SELF-MONITORING AND ADJUSTMENT Each EmitterDeck incorporates two temperature sensors located at the hottest locations of the back side of the deck. Each sensor sends temperature readings every 30 seconds to Kim Lighting’s exclusive LifeShield Protection System. In extreme conditions, LifeShield detects above tolerance temperature and automatically lowers the current to the MicroEmitters to preserve diode life. Lumen output is restored to full capacity once the temperature is stabilized to within acceptable limits. The LifeShield Protection System provides consistent performance with minimal output reduction in extreme and fluctuating environmental conditions. See page 5 for further details.

LM-79-2008 Compliance (INDICATES STANDARD IES FORMATTING)

Kim Lighting's photometric data for MicroEmitter LED luminaires are tested to the IESNA LM-79-2008 standard, and Kim Lighting only uses LEDs that are tested to the IESNA LM-80-2008 standard. When evaluating photometric data for LED luminaires, look for a negative one (-1) in the lumen output space of the photometric data file to assure compliance with LM-79-2008. All test reports published in this catalog reflect photometry performed under LM-79-2008 standards.

Specifications HOUSING: One-piece die-cast, low copper alloy (<0.6% Cu) aluminum with integral cooling ribs over the electrical compartment. Solid barrier wall separates optical and electrical compartments. A single die-cast aluminum cam-latch provides positive locking and sealing of the optical chamber. A one-piece extruded and vulcanized silicone gasket seals the housing against the lens surface. OPTICAL MODULE: Precision injection molded, high specular reflectors are positioned to achieve directional control toward desired task. Secondary high specular reflector 95% Miro4 panels surround the module to redirect light downward. No fasteners are placed on the reflective surface. The entire assembly fastens to the housing as a one-piece module and features wiring quick-connects for easy upgrading. SUPPORT ARM: Heavy cast, low copper alloy aluminum with stainless steel mounting bolts. A pole reinforcing plate is provided with wire strain relief. Arm is circular cut for specified round pole. HOUSING: One-piece die-cast, low copper (<0.6% Cu) aluminum alloy with integral cooling fins on top surfaces above the optical chamber and electrical compartment. A solid barrier wall separates the optical and electrical compartments, with gasketed wire penetrations. A double-thick wall with gussets is provided on the support arm mounting end. All hardware is stainless steel.

OPTICAL MODULE: Precision, replaceable MicroEmitters are positioned to achieve directional control toward desired task. Secondary MicroEmitters surround the module to redirect light downward. No fasteners are placed on the reflective surface. The entire EmitterDeck fastens to the housing as a one-piece module. SUPPORT ARM: One-piece extruded aluminum with internal bolt guides. Luminaire-to-pole attachment is by internal draw bolts, and includes a pole reinforcing plate with wire strain relief. For mounting to round poles, arm is circular cut for precise mating to the pole diameter.

LENS FRAME: One-piece die-cast, low copper (<0.6% Cu) aluminum alloy with a 1” minimum thickness around the gasket flange for rigidity. Integral hinges with stainless steel pins provide no-tool mounting and removal from the housing. Two stainless steel thumblatches are recessed into the front corners, concealed from normal view. Lens frame seals against the housing by a one-piece extruded silicone gasket with vulcanized end closure. Clear F” thick tempered flat glass is retained in the frame by eight clips with full silicone gasketing around the perimeter.

FINISH/COLOR: Finish is super TGIC thermoset polyester powder coat paint, 2.5 mil nominal thickness, applied over a titanated zirconium conversion coating; A.S.T.M. 2500 hour salt spray test endurance rating. Standard colors are Black, Dark Bronze, Light Gray, Stealth Gray, Platinum Silver, or White. Custom colors are available.

ELECTRONIC MODULE: All electrical components are UL recognized, mounted on a single plate and factory prewired with quick disconnect plugs. Modules include a driver, thermal control device and surge protector. Driver is rated for -40° starting and features a 0-10V dimming interface on the LifeShield® device.

A cast mounting plate of 356 alloy, low-copper (<0.6% Cu) aluminum, is mounted to the wall with bolts (by others). Fixture and arm are mounted to a cast 356 alloy aluminum cover plate before attaching to the wall mounting plate. The fixture-arm-cover plate assembly is hooked to the wall mounting plate, and secured with stainless steel screws provided. After mounting to the wall, field splices are made at the opening in the cover plate, then covered by a cast 356 alloy aluminum plate that blends with the cover plate design. Complete fixture-arm-cover plate assembly can therefore be mounted before field splices are made. Cover plate is finished to match arm and fixture powder coat color. CAUTION: Structural integrity of mounting plate attachment to wall is by others.

The lens rim can be shielded 180Âş to reduce uplight or light trespass illumination by employing a high heat color spray around the house side portion of the lens. NOTE: PGL74W, PGL74N and PGL75W, PGL75N only.

SC1 - Provides the most economical low voltage method of switching lighting levels based on occupancy within a space. SC1 is equipped with a relay and fixed resistor to allow 50% dimming; PGL7 driver is a 0-10V dimming interface. Wire leads extending out the top of the luminaire for twisted pair wiring connection to the occupancy sensor. The occupancy sensor device is a remote install, typically mounted to a j-box. Specifications SPEED MOUNT Electro-zinc plated steel for mounting to standard 4" junction box or mud-box. Fixture hangs from hooks to free both hands to make field wire connections. Allows tool-free fixture mounting to junction box, with integral anti-theft lock.

SENSOR (SC2, SC4): The occupancy sensor device and enclosure is factory installed onto the electrical housing. The occupancy sensor (Model No. OMN11RLRP) is a product of Hubbell Building Automation, an affiliate of Hubbell Lighting Inc., and is UL and cUL listed with a 5-year warranty.

REFRACTOR: Standard refractor is one-piece injection molded acrylic, .125" minimum wall thickness. Optional refractor is one-piece injection molded UV stabilized Lexan, .125" minimum wall thickness. The prisms around the perimeter refract the spill light off the MicroEmitters upward to eliminate the cave effect. Refractor attaches to electrical housing with (2) no-tool quick release latches, with one latch captive as a hinge. Perimeter is fully sealed with a one-piece extruded silicone gasket, with the ends fused together to form a continuous piece, sealing the refractor to the electrical housing, and providing an IP66 fixture rating.

FINISH: Standard finish on fixture electrical housing, optional PB2 and TB2, is (PS) Platinum Silver. Platinum Silver shall be a Powdura TGIC powder coat paint. All other colors shall be a Super TGIC powder coat paint. Optional white (WH) and custom colors available.

EMITTER DECK: Precision injection molded, high specular reflectors are positioned to achieve directional control toward desired task. The entire assembly fastens to the housing as a one-piece module and features wiring quick-disconnects for easy upgrading.

Standard LED Limited Warranty When properly installed and under normal conditions of use, Kim Lighting warrants MicroEmitter LED products (“Product(s)”) sold by Kim Lighting to be free from defects in material and workmanship for (i) a period of five (5) years for metal parts, (ii) a period of ten (10) years for exterior housing paint finish(s), (iii) a period of six (6) years for LED Light Engines (MicroEmitters) and, (iv) a period of five (5) years for LED power components (LED Driver, LifeShield Device, Surge Protector), from the date of sale of such goods to the buyer as specified in Kim Lighting shipment documents for each Product(s). Occupancy sensors, LED drivers, dimmers and relay wiring components are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. The buyer agrees to make all claims regarding defects or deficiencies in the Product(s) according to the terms of Kim Lighting’s official warranty. Warranty claims must be made in writing according to Kim Lighting procedures existing at the time of the claim.Valid warranty claims must be made within the warranty period specified herein above, and submitted within thirty (30) days of discovery of the damage or defect. No FIELD labor, repair, DISMANTLE, or installation charges are included with this warranty. Kim Lighting may repair or replace any Product(s) covered by this warranty at its sole discretion and in accordance with its procedure. Any unauthorized return, repair, replacement or modification of the Product(s) shall avoid this warranty. This warranty applies only to the use of the Product(s) as intended by Kim Lighting and does not cover any misapplication or misuse of said Product(s), or installation in hazardous or corrosive environments. In no event shall Kim Lighting’s total liability for any reason arising hereunder exceed the purchase price paid to Kim Lighting for the product purchased by the buyer hereunder.
