Call to Worship (based on the Psalm for today, Psalm 100) Leader: The peace of God be with you People: And also with you. Leader: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. People: Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. Leader: Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. People: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Bless his holy name. Leader: Give thanks for the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever and his faithfulness to all generations.

Heritage Hymn

O love of God ‌..

O love of God, how strong and true, eternal and yet ever new; Uncomprehended and unbought, beyond all knowledge and all thought! O heavenly love, how precious still, in days of weariness and ill, in nights of pain and helplessness, to heal, to comfort, and to bless. O wide-embracing, wondrous love, we read you in the sky above; We read you in the earth below, in seas that swell and streams that flow. We read you best in him who came to bear for us the cross of shame, sent by the Father from on high, our life to live, our death to die.

We read your power to bless and save e'en in the darkness of the grave; still more in resurrection light we read the fullness of your might. O love of God our shield and stay through all the perils of our way; eternal love in you we rest, forever safe, forever blest, Prayer and Lord’s Prayer

Jesus’ hands were kind hands, doing good to all, healing pain and sickness, blessing children small, washing tired feet and saving those who fall; Jesus' hands were kind hands, doing good to all. Take my hands, Lord Jesus, let them work for you; make them strong and gentle, kind in all I do; let me watch you, Jesus, till I'm gentle too, till my hands are kind hands, quick to work for you. Margaret Cropper (1886-1980)

Reading: Reflections

Matthew 25: 31-46

Fold to your heart your sister and your brother

Fold to your heart your sister and your brother: where pity dwells, the peace of God is there. To worship rightly is to love each other, each smile a hymn, each kindly deed a prayer. For those whom Jesus loved has truly spoken: the holier worship which he deigns to bless restores the lost, and binds the spirit broken, and feeds the widow and the fatherless. Follow with rev’rent steps the great example of him whose holy work was doing good. So shall the whole earth seem God’s sacred temple, each loving life a hymn of gratitude. Then shall all shackles fall: the stormy clangour of wild war music o’er the earth shall cease; love shall tread out the baleful fire of anger, and in its ashes plant the tree of peace. John Greenleaf Whittier (alt)

(please remain standing for the dedication of our giving)

Dedication of our giving (together ) This offering of money, food and the service of our lives, expresses our love for you, O God, a love offered with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. May these gifts be used to reveal that love in all we do and say. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen Prayers The Church family in action. Hymn

God of grace and God of glory…

God of grace and God of glory, on your people pour your power; crown your ancient church’s story; bring its bud to glorious flower. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the facing of this hour, for the facing of this hour. Look! The hosts of evil round us scorn the Christ, assail your ways! From the fears that long have bound us, free our hearts to faith and praise. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the living of these days. for the living of these days. Cure your children’s warring madness; bend our pride to your control; shame our wanton, selfish gladness, rich in things and poor in soul. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, lest we miss your peaceful goal. lest we miss your peaceful goal.

Fill us with a living vision; heal our wounds that we may be bound as one beyond division in the journey to be free. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, ears to hear and eyes to see. ears to hear and eyes to see. Harry Emerson Fosdick( verses 1-3) alt by Ruth Duck Verse 4 by Ruth Duck
