Frank Kiely
Prints 2010 - 2024

Frank Kiely, born in Ireland in 1974, is an artist specializing in rintmaking, drawing, and painting. He studied at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, The National College of Art and Design, and The Royal College of Art. Kiely's work explores the process of plein air drawing, creating sketched, cartoon-like scenes of iconic places.
His early works reflected his experiences as a student with undiagnosed dyslexia, working with photography, and using school desks to create woodblock prints. Upon moving to London in 2000, he began creating cityscapes featuring "hidden" or unexpected elements, drawing on his experiences of living in a bustling capital city as someone from a different culture. Recent projects have been inspired by the writings of James Joyce, with Kiely currently focusing on the United States of America in his work.
As a printmaker, Kiely is best known for his large screenprints, digital prints, and etchings, while as a painter, he works in acrylic and watercolour. Kiely also utilizes social media as a creative platform, regularly sharing his daily sketches and observations on Instagram.
Frank Kiely has had numerous solo exhibitions in Britain and Ireland, and his work has been exhibited extensively in group shows, including at prestigious venues such as the Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy, the Mall Galleries, and Bankside Gallery. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and currently resides and works in London.
