CONFESSION OF FAITH: HEIDELBERG CATECHISM

This we believe about the forgiveness of our sins, that, for the sake of Christ’s reconciling work, God will no more remember my sins or the sinfulness with which I have to struggle all my life long; but that He graciously imparts to me the righteousness of Christ so that I may never come into condemnation. Thanks be to God. Amen. MINISTRY OF MUSIC

“Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” Lemmel Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

RECEIVING OF TITHES & OFFERINGS

“What Was Thy Transgression?” Heinrich Schütz Dan Andersen, soloist What was Thy transgression? Thou, O Thou of all the most blessed, Jesus Christ, That Thou of all should suffer condemnation? O Lord, what hast Thou done, Lord, O Thou of all the most kind That Thou dost take on Thyself all the pain and suffering? Why must Thou be so treated? What hast Thou done? Lord, what was Thy guilt? Lord, what was the cause of Thy death? Can I know what has brought on Thy condemnation? ‘Tis I, I have been the cause,

And I have been the debtor Who has brought about Thy death and all Thy suffering. ‘Tis I who now dost profit by Thy death. Yet I know I am deserving of the guilt now placed upon Thee. ‘Tis I who have opened the wounds that cause Thy suffering; Thy passion, I fear I cause. Why, O why, O why, Thou Son of God? Why, Thou Son of God, why hast Thou been so humbled? O why, O why should the Son of God be so humbled? O why?

Response #606 “Doxology” Old Hundredth Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Sunday School Adults, Youth & Children

• Countdown to the Cross | 9:00a Resource Center On the evening before the Crucifixion, Jesus set His public ministry behind Him and reclined at supper with His chosen disciples. We will study chapters 13 through 17 of the Gospel of John which record His weighty and important “final words” to the people who would carry His gospel to the ends of the earth. • A Fresh Look at Genesis | 10:00a Parlor This morning we will look at the first chapter of Genesis (which of course, means beginnings). But more than that, it stands for the most significant part of the whole; the principle and foundation. Use this to define your new year and see how this text can influence you. It bursts forth with an extraordinary premise and affirmation. Mark John will lead this class. • Youth Programming | 10:00a Youth Room Students grades 7-12 are invited to join us in the Youth Room for snacks, fellowship and Bible study. • Children’s Programming | 9:00a & 10:00a Lower Level B Children’s Programming for Kindergarten through Sixth Grade changes throughout the year but includes BLAST workshops, Missions Unit, Summer Musical and other exciting adventures.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
