EPIPHANY STAR GIFTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE On Epiphany Sunday, January 6, members of the congregation received the gift of a star with a word written on it. The purpose of the gift is to remind us that God is constantly giving gifts to us in many forms. The word written on the star is intended to be thought about in many different ways and to challenge our thinking about the gifts we receive from God on a daily basis. If you did not receive a star last week they are available in a basket in the rear of the Sanctuary. Just reach in and take one—no fair choosing!! Then as Mary did following the birth of Jesus, “ponder these things in your heart”

SERVE AS A GREETER IN 2013 With 2012 wrapping up, it is time for us to schedule greeters for 2013. Greeting visitors may seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in the first impression we leave on our guests. Greeting at Tabernacle is incredibly easy; you just come to your designated location (inside the Sanctuary or outside on the sidewalk) about 15 minutes before worship and then act like your normal sunny selves! Families, including children, are invited and encouraged to participate! Once we have enough volunteers, a schedule will be set and you will be notified of your greeting dates (you can, of course, trade if you have a conflict). WELCOME TO GUESTS AND VISITORS

Attention All Team Leaders, Committee Chairmen, Pastoral Staff: It is time to get to work on your articles and reports for the 2012 Book of Reports, which will be presented at our Annual Business Meeting on January 27, 2013. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

CHANGE IN NEWSLETTER PLAN FOR 2013 The Administrative Board and Church Staff have decided to offer the newsletter in three different forms in 2013. 1) The newsletter is still available on the back of the Religious Herald. The cost is a total of $20 per household. 2) We will print hardcopies and place them in the back of the Sanctuary on a biweekly schedule (free) 3) A digital version of the newsletter will be available for tablets and computers (free) If you would like to continue receiving The Religious Herald by mail at the subscription price or our newsletter by email, please let the Church Office know right away; otherwise, you will need to pick up a copy in the back of the Sanctuary.

ACTS OF FAITH PREVIEW EVENT AND KICK-OFF! Each year Tabernacle participates in the Acts of Faith Festival, a theatre festival that involves many plays that examine the role of faith in our lives. The kick-off event for this Festival is January 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street. Each of the theatre companies will present a short sketch from the play they are presenting as a part of the festival. If you are interested in going as a group, please contact Judy Fiske, judy@tbcrichmond.org or call the church office.

BENEDICTION POSTLUDE ________________

*CHILDREN AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: Today, any school-age child is invited to assist the Deacons as they collect offering. During the last verse of the offertory hymn, noted with an asterisk (*), children are invited to make their way to the front pew to stand in front of a Deacon during the last stanza of the invitation hymn. This Deacon will then guide the child step by step through the process of collecting the morning’s offering. When the choral doxology has ended, children and Deacons alike return to their seats with family members.
