2016 is an Olympic year which sees the first South American city hosting the Games. So we look to Rio in search of color and style. A joyful palette of intense, saturated hues greets us along with a spontaneous, dynamic approach to design. Materials have a repurposed appearance; reclaimed wood boasts remnants of scraped paint colors and stains. Parquet is disrupted by colourful ceramic tiles. Mix & mismatched patterns produce a busy collaged aesthetic. Cork becomes contemporary when integrated with felt, wood or glossy tiles. Gritty concrete flooring is softened by overlapping Ikat rugs. Unexpected color interventions deliver vibrancy.
