WELCOME FROM GOLDEN OAK LIVESTOCK OLDS, ALBERTA, CANADA
We could not be more excited than we are to welcome you to Cattle In The Snow Volume III!
It’s true what they say “time flies when you’re having fun.” There aren’t many days that go by where we aren’t enjoying the cattle themselves or the people we have met in the cattle industry. Whether its touring people through the cattle, sitting and visiting on the deck having a cold one, touring ranches around Canada and the U.S. or visits at shows and sales, we always feel extremely grateful for the cattle industry and the people in it.
for half interest to Westway Farms. We are so excited about Preacher’s future and can’t wait to see his first calves on the ground in January!
To see cattle and genetics that we have sold in our previous sales go out and work for our customers the way they have is truly rewarding and we are so pleased to be able to market some of those offspring and genetics in this year’s sale for our guest consignors. We are excited to welcome Manchester
Our goal has always been to breed functional cattle that will go out and work for our customers and we feel we are achieving just that. The cattle on offer are from some of our very best, proven genetics that come to the top for us time and time again. We believe in the strength of cow families, and as such, you will see several full sibs as well as maternal sibs throughout the catalogue that come from some of our top females. The bull calves are sound, good footed, free moving, easy doing cattle that are going to put pounds on calves at weaning time and work on all types of cows and heifers. The females are maternal, broody and beautiful uddered and are the type of cattle that will go on to produce herd bulls and females you will want to retain in your herd.
When we sold Golden Oak Hollywood 210K in our first sale in 2022, we knew he would breed well but to see his calves on the ground, not just at our place, but at ranches in Canada and the U.S., and see how well he has bred is extremely rewarding. Some of his first offspring are on offer in this year’s sale as well as matings and semen on last year’s high selling bull, Golden Oak Preacher 333L, who sold for $70,000.00
Polled Herefords, Pieschel Farms, Whiskey Lane Livestock, McLennan Creek Herefords, DJD Polled Herefords, AXA Herefords, and MJT Cattle Co. to our sale this year and thank them for offering up some of their best! The Angus and Hereford genetics they are offering are outstanding and compliment the entire sale offering.
Planning and hosting a sale takes a great team of people and we are grateful to our kids, our family, friends and customers for their support in helping to make it all happen. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for supporting us in any way you have.
Thank you to everyone who stopped to tour the cattle this summer and fall, it’s always a pleasure to have so many people come through.
We look forward to hosting everyone on Thursday, December 19th at the farm for supper, the sale and (as always) some Christmas cheer! Please take advantage of the free cab service running to and from the sale from both the Pomeroy and the Ramada in Olds.
Feel free to contact either of us, any of the sales staff or any of the guest consignors if you’d like to discuss the cattle.
On behalf of all of us at Golden Oak Livestock, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy 2025!

We at T Bar, are excited to assist Tom and Lisa with the third edition of Cattle In The Snow, a feature leading event in the livestock industry. Visiting the other day with “old T Bar”, he recalled first meeting Tom at an event in the Ottawa Valley where he was proud to show off his “Nick the Butler” heifer. He was in his early teens and Ted was impressed with the young man’s knowledge and enthusiasm for breeding purebred seedstock. Fast forward a few decades and we see an elite breeding operation… Golden Oak Livestock.
Reading through the catalogue is like going through the “Eaton’s Christmas Catalogue” with something exciting on every page. An amazing front pasture lineup awaits your visit… and in two breeds. Industry leading donors and their influence will be features… proven and predictable carrying unique genetic combinations.
The female offering will enhance all types of breeding operations with future donors amongst these predictable ladies. In building the cow herd, body mass and udder quality were two main criteria in selection. The 2024 models offer the newest of genetics, copies of their dams… exciting and suitable for juniors of any age… explore and discover your next foundation female.
The male section of this outstanding lineup is laden with herd sire opportunities. Industry leading genetics out of power cow’s ideal in phenotype, full of muscle mass… you will drive many miles to find such a powerful group of bulls in both breeds.
This is your invitation to be with us on the evening of December 19th at Golden Oak and be a part of the anticipated Cattle in the Snow III. An event you can not miss if you are serious about breeding and developing quality seed stock.
We, at T Bar C, are very familiar with this great offering… if we may be of any assistance prior to or sale day, do not hesitate to call any of our team and we will assist in a professional and confidential manner.
Best Regards,
Chris Poley

ACT BW 89 Erica 267F has been an absolute joy to own. She’s a direct daughter of one of the most famous cows in the Angus breed, Erica 74A. Her first bull calf is a herdsire at one of the top cowherds in Canada, Everblack Angus and LT Ranch purchased her heifer calf out of last year's sale for $30,000. 267F is as deep bodied as they come with a great disposition that she passes on to all of her calves. We are retaining her sweetheart of a heifer calf out of Warrior as she will be 267F’s replacement here at Golden Oak. This cow has the ability to change the direction of a cowherd. She is bred back to Bar E-L Warrior. Observed bred to Bar E-L Warrior 36K on May 16 and preg checked safe to the May 16th breeding.

RIGHT TO FLUSH GOLDEN OAK MAGNOLIA 2D
BW 80 GO Magnolia 2D is a Harvestor out of 143K, Natural Law’s mom. GO 2D is the type of power cow that we are striving to breed at Golden Oak. She is moderate, very tanky, good-uddered, and has a big foot under her. 2D is one of those cows that goes the extra mile raising her calves. Her production is only really getting started. She is the mother of our high selling GO Preacher 333L bull who we sold half interest in to Westway Farms for $70,000.00 and GO Krackow 330L bull who we sold to LT Ranches for $30,000.00 both in last year’s sale. This year’s sale features another top bull calf of 2D’s, GO Area Code 403M as well as the feature heifer calf choice lot of Preacher’s full sisters, 435M and 422M. 2D is a herd matriarch in the making here at Golden Oak.
GOLDEN OAK MLC 0807 AREA CODE 403M
ACT BW 92 Area Code 403M is a full brother to Krackow 330L who commanded $30,000 from LT Ranch, South Dakota in last year’s sale. He is also a maternal brother to Golden Oak Preacher 333L who sold for $70,000 for half interest to Westway Farms. 403M’s dam is our cornerstone female, GO Magnolia 2D, who is a maternal sister to Natural Law and is starting to write her own story. Area Code 403M is a big time herd bull and one you will want to keep every daughter in your herd that he sires. His full sister catches the eye of everyone who has toured and we are retaining her in our herd. Owned with McNeely Land and Cattle.
GOLDEN OAK MV ROLEX 401M
ACT BW 84 Rolex 401M is out of one of our favourite herdsires at Golden Oak, Golden Oak Hollywood 210K. Hollywood 210K was the high seller in our 1st sale at $45,000 to Pine Coulee & Koupal Angus. His calves are low birthweight, stout and have a great look. 401M’s dam was purchased in last year's sale by Mountain View Farms and what an investment she turned out to be for them. 401M is going to make a true herd bull. He’s big middled, good footed and has a herd bull look to him. Owned with Mountain View Farms. DAM 23H
GOLDEN OAK PROHIBITION 402M
ACT BW 82 402M is a low birthweight bull out of our go to heifer specialist, Bar E-L Royal Reserve 120H. His mom is a beautiful two year old Alcatraz daughter who goes back to the Blackcap May family. She outdid herself raising this guy! 402M’s length will add a lot of pounds to his calves at sale time with the bonus of having a very moderate birth weight.

BW 94 Golden Oak Preacher 333L was last year's sale feature selling for $70,000 for half interest to Westway Farms. We sold exclusive semen packs right after the sale to some of the most progressive breeders in Canada. Preacher is the best bull we have ever produced. He is a great footed, huge hipped herd sire on the rise who we believe is only going to get better and better. For a bull with this much hip and mass, he is extremely free moving and athletic. He is out of our number one donor cow GO Magnolia 2D who just keeps cracking out the great ones, just look at Lot 3, GO Area Code 403M and Preacher’s full sisters who sell as lots 23A and 23B. Preacher’s dam also produced GO Krackow 333L, the $30,000 herdsire at LT Ranches. Preacher bred over 40 cows naturally and put up 1500 doses of semen this spring. Preacher will play a large role moving forward in not only our program but Westway’s as well. This will be the only semen to sell for the 2025 breeding season. Owned with Westway Farms.
Selling five 5-unit packages Canadian qualified Golden Oak 0807 Hollywood 210K semen
BW 95 Golden Oak Hollywood was our feature bull in our 2022 sale and was purchased by Pine Coulee Angus and Koupal Angus for $45,000.00. Hollywood’s first calves hit the ground this year and they are impressive. He seems to stamp every one of them the same. Easy calving with lots of style and eye appeal while maintaining that stoutness and sweep of rib we’re after. Owned with Pine Coulee Angus and Koupal Angus.
Bgenetics. And don’t forget her grand dam 143K’s greatest achievement, Bar E-L Natural Law! This will be a very tough pick to make as both of these heifer calves are outstanding but it will be a pick that will fastrack your program forward! Good luck picking!

ACT BW 91 430M is a beautiful daughter out of Hodgeman and 26G. She has a beautiful front-end, long-necked, nice skulled and super long-spined to go along with her red eyes and cherry red colour. 430M is a full sister to our high selling heifer calf from last year’s sale to McLennan Creek Herefords and looks just like her. She’s also a full sister to one of our feature bull calves in this years sale, GO 419M.

ACT BW 78 This two year old cow comes right off the top of our herd. Take a look at her depth of body, udder quality and her milk numbers. Her dam, 45G, doesn’t miss and based on 16K’s first daughter, she is going to follow in her mother’s footsteps. AI’d to Hodgeman for an early January calf and exposed to Amsterdam. Owned by McLennan Creek Herefords.

ACT BW 83 We love the look of this dark red, short marked, goggle eyed heifer calf. She follows the pattern of her dam, 16K, but with added length and frame. Her udder quality and milk numbers are very predictable in this cow family. Owned by McLennan Creek Herefords.

ACT BW 80 Ms Digby 37M is a very attractive heifer calf that we certainty think a lot of. This heifer is long bodied, wide based, has an excellent hair coat and an overall presence to her. On top of that this heifer is extremely docile, a great project for a junior or just a nice one to have around. 37M’s dam and maternal sister are RBC supreme qualifiers. Sired by Golden Oak’s pick of the 2023 bulls at the Churchill Bull Sale, Churchill Amsterdam, 37M would make a fine breeding piece to anyone’s program. Owned by Pieschel Farms.

MANCHESTER H244 MIST 403M
ACT BW 92 A natural daughter of Manchester Mist 112J, this heifer embodies performance both genetically and phenotypically. She is double pigmented, strong topped, big middled and carries a ton of characteristics that are just like her momma. Her sire SHF Hodgeman has definitely left his genetic stamp on this girl, and has made many profitable females all across Canada. Owned by Manchester Herefords and Hereford GRLZ.

ACT BW 70 It’s hard to miss this Hodgeman heifer. On farm tours this summer, she was always a favourite. She is very eye appealing with her attractive front end and added thickness throughout. She goes back to our donor, the Zippedy 8Z cow. 59M will make a great show heifer! Owned by DJD Polled Herefords.
