Welcome Friends from Southern Angus Farms

This is our first annual bull sale, but we aren’t new to the business.

My Dad, Donn Trowbridge, has been raising purebred angus since 1946.

This though will be the first sale that Natasha and myself have put on since we have been handed the operation 2 years ago. That being said, we started with a surplus of knowledge about the cow herd. We have had a lifetime of experience to look back on with my Dad as well as meeting new friends that we’ve been able to ask questions and receive a fresh set of eyes with regard the operation. Our goal is to improve the quality and reputation of Angus cattle. We want the commercial cattleman to be confident in our genetics when it comes to calving, weaning, and even backgrounding their calf crops. We want feedlot operators to seek out our genetics in the calves they buy because they know that the extra frame is there to support the carcass weight that they desire if they need to finish animals at a higher weight. Finally we want the purebred angus operation to trust our genetics because we have met the first two goals but refuse to sacrifice sound structure in the way of good feet and legs. Admittedly these are lofty goals and no operation is perfect at first but these are the goals we are striving for. We feel this pen of bulls have a lot to offer and that a good match can be found for anyone’s program. With the help of you, our friends, we hope to get closer each year to meeting our goals and helping you meet yours. Regards, Chad Trowbridge, Southern Angus

Wfrom the sale First Class Cattleto Marketing elcome Welcome to the First Annual Southern Angus Bull sale. It is with great pleasure that we have been asked to come on as sales management for this inaugural event. The bulls on offer are the right kind. Good footed, heavy muscled, hairy bulls that are sound in their structure and makeup. These bulls are designed to last and are guaranteed 100% so please bid and buy with the upmost of confidence. The folks at Southern Angus have been building this herd for a large number of years and through large culling programs and using the very best genetics possible they have been able to put out an offering that is very impressive. The entire staff at First Class Cattle Marketing will be very familiar with the offering so please give anyone of us a call. It will be our pleasure to work with you in a professional and confidential manner to fill all your herd bull needs and will be honoured to help you find the right bull for your specific program and budget. DLMS will also be onsite if internet bidding is what you prefer. We hope to see everyone in Fort McLeod on December 2 and wish you all the best this fall. In our herd, like others, we have clusters of mothers, daughters and sisters. These usually consist of cows that keep up in the calving program and don’t show up open, all while raising a solid calf year after year. The dam of this lot does that and her bull calves average BW of 88 pounds and ADJ WW of 633 pounds.

A Barstow Bankroll son that comes from a very thick bodied Southern Kruggerand 16H daughter. We sold Southern Kruggerand 16H to Windy Willows Farms for $20,000 They built a program around that bull, seeing the benefit of his sons and daughters. We too see the benefit and are using semen we saved from 16H to build brood cows! This young bull would be an asset to any commercial or purebred herd.

This bull was born January 7, 2019 and she is due to calve January 1, 2020! Now she gets a little extra rest from all that catching up! She is a maternal sister to 5F in this sale. This is a Power Tool son out of a first calf heifer. Performance is in the pedigree. The Erelite Cow Family has been in our genetics for over 40 years. Five or so generations back in the pedigree was a cow Dad sold to LLB and the story goes that was one of Lee’s favorite cows and he was going to be keeping progeny from her. Great cow families really do make the herd. This guy has that and much more going for him!

This Barstow Bankroll son came out of nowhere! We needed a bull for the heifers so we decided to use him. He went out at around 1200 pounds and came back in at 1600 pounds and everything we saw him breed was in calf! He gets fat so easy that he is a pleasure to feed because it doesn’t take much. We are seeing the same look and quality in his progeny. In the pasture he is the hardest working bull I have seen. Stays with the cow until she is settled and makes sure to check all the cows frequently. He doesn’t rest by the water when there is work to be done.
