Welcome to Right Cross Ranch’s

10th Annual Bull Sale

I’m going to do my best to keep this introduction “cattle-based,” but in all honestly, Right Cross Ranch is so much more than that! Ten years ago, a University graduate and a cowboy had a dream. We decided that if we were going to do life “together” it would include cattle, horses, land, and kids. That dream led us to Southeast Saskatchewan. June 9th we registered our ranch name and the 20th was our official move-in day. Those first few years were tough, to say the least. We went from a classroom, a 9 – 5 job, and living with our parents, to operating a 300 head cowherd, a feedlot, and maintaining a home by ourselves. Our families supported us as best they could, but essentially we had to “figure it out” on our own. We’ve had ups and we’ve had downs, but through it all, we wouldn’t be here without our “tribe.” The support from the good Lord, each other, our family, friends, and the agriculture community kept us striving forward day after day! We are thankful for where we are, proud of what we’ve achieved, and grateful for the people we’ve met along the way.

Right Cross Ranch

PO Box 100 Kisbey, SK S0C 1L0 rightcrossranch@hotmail.com Sight Unseen Purchases: If you are interested in our bulls but can not attend the sale we would be happy to take your order. We will have sale staff, auctioneers and special representatives on hand to accommodate you. We ask that all bids be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

In 2020, we were lucky enough to access some land close to our home quarter. For years we’ve wanted to run our cow herd “ranch style” but didn’t quite have the land base to get it done. Last year we were able to grow our own feed to feed our livestock and run the cows on swath grazing for the majority of the winter. It was sure nice not to start a tractor every day and have our cowherd working for us! In this year’s bull sale we have a nice variety of heifer bulls as well as some power bulls to help your calf crop push down the scale come fall. Each lot has been assessed and any bull that we don’t feel is sound got pulled out and put in the butcher pen. We’ve raised these bulls with the goal of providing our customers with a product that will easily adjust to their own operations and last for years to come. With just the two of us and our kids here most days, it is essential that our cows work for us. Any cow that presents a preventable problem must “hit the road!” Each year we cull problem cows and the herd has gotten better and better. We invite you to tour our females, see what we are striving for and judge if it aligns with your goals. We appreciate your interest in our program and hope you’ll join us live at the ranch or online using TEAM! Check out www.teamauctionsales.com to familiarize yourself with the updated system before sale day. With COVID restrictions in place, we will do our best to host you on April 19th, 2021. Thanks for being a part of our first ten years! We’re excited to see what the next ten has in store for our family and our operation! Sincerely,

Jim, Sarah, Morgan, Quinn & Cole Anderson Right Cross Ranch

Right Cross Ranch Nutrition

:

Right Cross Ranch has a strong focus on nutrition and management for their growing bulls and entire cow herd. Each ration is balanced based on feed analysis and goals for each set of cattle. The bull rations are formulated with 20% coarse chopped hay to encourage cud chewing, a healthy rumen and longevity. Coarsely rolled barley or corn grain provides energy to optimize growth. Cereal silage and a custom formulated bull supplement rounds out the bull rations. Slow and steady growth is the goal for Right Cross bulls. It would be great if you have the opportunity to stop by the ranch to check out the bulls and the growing rations prior to the sale.

From the Desk at T Bar... Welcome to the Right Cross Annual Spring Bull sale, Monday April 19, 2021 at the ranch, Kisbey, Saskatchewan. Here in 2021, Right Cross Ranch celebrates their tenth annual spring sale featuring the early calved red and black Angus yearlings. As Jim and Sarah share much of the workload at Right Cross, maybe the girls can oversee baking of the tenth anniversary cake! The Right Cross program grows in popularity each year, mainly because of their growing customer base. Their program is run in the same manner as that of their customers… ranch style. The cow herd base is large… run on hard grass, along with the Angus influence heifers that are readied for their December event. With the size and scope of the program, soundness and fertility are key factors in selection of herd bulls for their program… each herd bull has an individual role in making the product complete. You will love the lineup of bulls slated for this spring sale. Performance has always been forefront, but Jim and Sarah require bulls with presence and attractiveness, along with ruggedness. Good feet, lots of hair and testicle, these bulls have been bred and designed to add value into steer calves and for keeping all daughters… a win-win scenario. Plan to visit the ranch any time prior the sale and get a guided preview of the bulls and a look at their management and mothers. Feel free to give Jim or Sarah a call to discuss the bulls and those that will fulfill your breeding requirements for a rapidly approaching breeding season. Plan to be with us in person or online and get the “right cross” for your program. If we may be of assistance, prior to or sale day, feel free to contact any of the T Bar Team or myself, we will help you in a professional manner.

The proof is in the pudding with these embryo bulls! Lots 1 – 4 are full brothers to our 2017 high selling yearling, Red RCR Decepticon 19D. He sold to Rodgers Red Angus for $17,500. 19D has gone on to raise the two top selling bulls at Rodgers’ last year and the most consistent sons in this year’s sale, according to Shawn Rodgers. Their dam, RCR158X is the highest earning cow at Right Cross Ranch. Both her and her mother are designated Elite. Every female she has raised us has gone on to be a top producer with near perfect udder, capacity, presence, good feet, and keep their shape year-round. These females are the type of cow you’ll want to build a herd around! Lots 1 – 4 are sired by Red RCSB Son of Thor 315A who topped the Lazy RC Bull Sale in 2015 and was our “Once in a Lifetime” bull. He left his mark with cattle that are easy fleshing, have good feet and udders, and phenotypically rise to the top. These 4 embryo sons are outcross genetics at its finest and are your last chance to own a Thor son!

BW WW YW Milk MCE 1.6 45 72 19 10.0 Sandy Bar Ambush 10Y needs no special introductions. He’s Beau Switzer’s all-time favorite herd sire. 10Y raises bulls that top the bull pen and females that are herd leaders. Last fall we gathered his herd and walked them 5 miles down the road to a set of corrals. The 10 year old stud got out and lead the herd the whole way, talk about LONGEVITY! This is your last chance to get your hands on an Ambush 10Y son.

Lot 5 starts off this group strong. He’s out of a hardworking, good footed, smaller framed Final Answer/Grizzly granddaughter. Check out the udder on that babe! Maternal brothers to lot 5 have sold to Katie Culbertson and Mark and Margie Axten.

You can’t go wrong with a bull like this; he’s dark red, fleshy, and balanced. 193H’s maternal grandam is the original “Freyja” cow that started all the excitement for us! Lady 56B is one of our top cows. She raised our high selling bull in 2019 that sold to Minburn Angus and Eye Hill Angus. Another son sold to the Lacombe Research Center, and one to John Scott. With his length of body and smooth shoulders, 193H should calve to bigger exotic heifers or cows with no problems.
