OPPORTUNITIES LIKE THIS COME ONCE A YEAR
The elite Angus, Simmental, and SimmAngus sale — where excellence meets opportunity! Every year, we bring together top-notch consignors to offer an exceptional selection of high-quality females and cutting-edge frozen genetics. Whether you’re looking to build your herd or introduce superior genetics to your breeding program, this sale is your gateway to the best on the market, including unique outcross genetic opportunities.
T BAR C
Those that experience common affiliation with success know that while it is rare that opportunity just knocks on your door, you must certainly be prepared to answer and embrace the call when it does. Those that do embrace those opportunities, and utilize them to their highest potential, are rewarded with successes at the upper echelon of what the seedstock business offers, and the ability to carry that legacy on throughout generations. Ladies and gentlemen, I would encourage you to analyze not only the success that the sale team behind Opportunity Knocks 5.0 has experienced in the last couple months, but the reputation they have developed as dynamic breeders at the forefront of a competitive and rapidly evolving industry. Once you do, I am certain that on December 16 the door will be opened to that knock. There are few individuals that you will meet in this business that are as unique in their approach to marketing and the purebred business as Kevin Blair. It is through his forward thinking and ‘out of the box’ tactics that he has pushed the boundaries on what one can feasibly set out to accomplish in terms of genetics, marketing, and rewards. A few weeks ago, at Farm Fair International, a past graduate of Opportunity Knocks to Carlos O’jea got the slap and limelight as the 2024 National Champion Red Angus female. In true commitment to excellence fashion, both a flush and the heifer calf at side of this champion is being presented in the offering. While the subject of distinguished females is being explored, we would be remiss to not make mention of the ultimate household name of Angus females in today’s modern times, Erica 74A. Her legacy continues to be represented with such force in the offering, with many of her descendants well on their way to stepping out of their dam’s great shadow and forging their own name for themselves. The Blairs.Ag and Blairs West partnership on this female has already been written in the history books. In an industry that produces many young, hardworking families; I would make the statement that Scott and Calla, along with their sons, are some of the most passionate and ‘fired-up’ people that you will meet when the subject of raising cattle is broached. Their offering here is highly regarded, and I would encourage you to give them your inspection at Agribition and on sale day.
The Willms family have been cutting a wide swath already this Fall. I would assume that barn space in Dundurn is becoming limited to house the banners that have been collected. Those that have pursued or are spectators of Supremes know that the stars must align just so for those that have the goods reach the pinnacle. The family and Hennessy 3K navigated the path with expert precision to reach that summit, where they were bestowed the title of Alberta Supreme Champion Bull at Farm Fair International. The report card from the show also included Reserve National Champion Black Angus Bull, Champion Senior Red Angus Bull Calf, a third overall breeds placing in a highly competitive Legends show, and Champion Intermediate yearling heifer. Personally, I feel their show ring success pales in comparison to the family that Bryan and Tracey are raising alongside their exceptional stock. Kylie and Owen are forging their own path and reputation of being hard working, competitive, and highly knowledgeable stockman.
On the topic of forging your own path, Baxter Blair along with the rest of the Double B team have continued to bring the goods both in the pens and in their businesses. Baxter has brought his perspective and talent to a growing and highly exciting video storytelling media business, along with an outstanding donor battery. Duff Lady 1620 was a highlighted, memorable, and to most a favorite stop to those that took the famed Yackley herd tour at Trans Ova. So distinguished in fact, that the crew chose to halter break this female and take her on the show road. Pay special mind to a flush opportunity on this phenotypic outlier.
When it comes to this sale team, the term ‘game recognizes game’ comes to mind. These young families are at the forefront of the breed in terms of cattle, progression, and passion. The past graduates of Opportunity Knocks speak for themselves, so much so that it is truly stating the obvious that the next donor, show ring champion, and front pasture female will be found here. Those of us at T Bar C are very familiar with the cattle and the programs backing them and would be happy to assist you with your decisions and purchases. Join us in Lanigan for an exceptional lineup of females, and the best supper and hospitality you will have all year!
The Opportunity Knocks 5.0 is loaded for bear once again this December as these progressive programs are diving deep and offering up their very best. This event is a certain must attend event of the fall as it encompasses great cattle from even better people with hospitality that is second to none. We are blessed to be in an industry with fellow breeders that thrive to enhance the livestock industry and these 4 behind the Opportunity Knocks Sale are amongst the very best in acquiring the best genetics plus offering it up for their customers to benefit from as well.
Very few (if any) annual production sales continually pull as deep of an offering as these 4 programs annually accomplish. The amount of donor and influential females that this sale has produced in recent times is to be commended but that is only due to them being committed to selling their very best. The Black and Red Angus offering puts out big time genetics and no matter your budget, there truly is something for everyone’s budget and cattle that will push you forward. The Simmental offering is small and very select with cow families that are popular and sought after. No matter the breed that you seek or if it is a donor, bred female, open calf or exclusive geneticsyou’ll find something to peak your interest in this impressive lineup.
The trio of Blair’s families and Willms have always put a great event together and is one to mark in your calendar. The supper and hospitality is festive and beverages are on point so we hope you can join us. If you can’t make it sale day, feel free to contact any of the consignors or sales staff to assist your buying needs in a professional manner. We look forward to visiting with you further on sale day and take in the Opportunity Knocks 5.0 as it’s one that you won’t want to miss!
We couldn’t think of a better way to create some added buzz to a prestigious sale than to offer a female of this quality. If you’re looking for an Angus donor, this one must be on your list. Talk about massive rib shape, big bone structure, and her flexibility in motion. This one strikes you fairly hard, and we’re excited to hear what you have to say. We’ve flushed this cow three times this spring and averaged an impeccable 17 freezable embryos per flush—very rare to find one with the fertility like 74A. As the saying goes, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and come sale day this one is going to gain some friends. Check out her Glacier bull calf, “Glacier Ice 48M,” in the yards at Canadian Western Agribition.

This is one of the first KR Casino calves to walk in Canada, as she crossed the border in 74A. 41F has been a cow that attracts you in many facets. She gives you a striking look with some added power and rib shape and a super level udder with ideal teat placement and size. As the famous auctioneer Joe Goggins would say, “WOAH SHE’S AN ERICA.” Just a few highlights of her production record are her Density heifer calf that sold to Pete Friters in Opportunity Knocks 4.0 for $19,500 and a bull selling a few years ago to Twin Creek Stock Farms.
We will be retaining two successful flushes (minimum of six embryos per flush) at buyer’s convenience and seller’s expense.

We are more excited and proud every day of the accomplishments of Bar E-L Erica 74A. We are in the part of the genetic cycle now where her sons & daughters are proving their value over and over. The consistency of the daughters is crazy and the possibilities are endless. One of the top daughters is Blair’s Erica 265F that was purchased in Opportunity Knocks 3.0 by KT Ranch & Canadian Donors for $39,000. We felt she was special that day and it has turned out to be true. These full sibling daughters off Brooking Emerald are cool built and exhibit the phenotypical traits that we admire in Angus cattle. They are moderate in their type and explosive in their design with soft hair and a perfect skull shape.

SALE FEATURE!!! This SAV Magnum heifer jumped through a lot of hoops for us in terms of being so explosive in rib shape and pin set while still being very angular fronted with that ideal “Erica head.” We feel she will carry on the tradition of the “Erica udder,” as her teat size and placement look to be very promising. SAV Magnum was purchased in 2022 by Mohnen Angus of South Dakota from the prestigious Schaff Angus Valley bull sale. His fresh pedigree blends nine Pathfinders in his three-generation pedigree and offers unique mating flexibility. Recently a class winner at Manitoba Ag Ex, this is a heifer we will be promoting this fall at Canadian Western Agribition.

Erica 557L is extremely well balanced and soft made with a bright future. The mating of Erica 74A and SAV Renown 3439 is the kind that makes big time cows. ERICA
Blairswest Erica 33M is one that is talked about for her length of spine and ample amount of middle while still being attractive through her front third. Her two-year old Brooking Mercury dam is fault free in our circumstances—ideal uttered, high foot quality, mothering ability, and produces heavy calves. Stop by our stall at Canadian Western Agribition to check out 33M, recently a class winner a Manitoba Ag Ex.
This March-born Whiskey calf sure gets us excited. She’s smaller in stature but deep sided, super fresh, and feminine. Her dam Erica 1G entered the donor pen this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited. Erica 1G is “easy on the eyes,” super tanky built, and has a super-wide hip structure with an explosive rib shape and the “Erica udder.” Chatting with Uncle Kev this summer her name was brought up multiple times as a possibility of being Lot 1, but we couldn’t pull the trigger as we feel we’re just tapping into her potential. Merit Whiskey 8010 is a bull we bought with Blairs.Ag and has left us with exceptional mother cows that have gone on to do awesome things, and I think this combo in 85M is neat to say the least.
BLAIRSWEST ERICA 1G | DAM
Erica 65L is smaller in her stature, but we feel she has a long future ahead of her. She just does multiple things right for us when looking for breeding cattle, such as foot and leg structure, teat placement, and the Angus head is very important for us as well. Erica 330G is a Coleman Charlo x Erica 74A, and if you follow our program this has been one of our most consistent matings, and she is a full sibling to 19E, so the maternal side of things needs no explanation. PE to Peakdot Brutus 266L; calf due early to mid-March
Blairswest Erica 34M is the largest heifer in our offering, and she’s super long spined, big boned, and very extended through her shoulder and neck. Her SAV pedigree dam replicated her in a very similar fashion, being big boned and very long and extended while also being big middled with a super neat and tidy udder. We are excited to see 34M as a cow as we think her potential could run very high.

Echo 541H produces offspring with tremendous performance with her bull calf this year weaning off as one of our heaviest calves. 541H is carrying the service of Scheifelbein Gable 311.
AI bred to SCHIEFELBEIN GABLE 311 on May 10, 2024. Exposed to BLAIR’S DECLASSIFIED 648G from May 27, 2024 to July 10, 2024. Favourable to SCHIEFELBEIN GABLE 311
Our commitment every year is to share the very best genetics with the livestock industry and PM Emblynette 252D is exactly that. She may be the longest made, biggest boned, biggest hipped female to ever walk “the sand” at Blairs.Ag Cattle Co. After you are done admiring her raw power & performance, check out her pedigree with Bar E-L Natural Law 52Y, OCC Legacy 839L and SAV Bismarck 5682. Retaining the right to 1 flush. AI bred to BROOKING EMERALD 9179 on May 10, 2024. Exposed to BLAIR’S DECLASSIFIED 648G from May 27, 2024 to July 10, 2024. Favourable to BROOKING EMERALD 9179
Brooking Mercury is fast becoming a favorite for us once we saw how good the females were. Embynette 517M patterns just like her dam and with the combination of Natural Law 52Y and Beauty 333 in the pedigree you can expect outstanding udders and powerful milking daughters from 517M.

Surena 561K wouldn’t have been for sale this year if it wasn’t for her sweet heifer calf that allows us to sell a mother/daughter combo. This is the last of the offspring from the recent batch of Argentine genetics we imported. The 561K two year old is making a gorgeous cow and has proved her productive value in her first try. Take note that she comes bred to Blair’s Declassified 648G who is the impressive EA Rose 918 son. AI bred to

Barbara Bea 65J was our pick of the Remitall bred heifer sale in 2022. We loved the maternal pedigree with SAV Pioneer and SAV President. She brings a real nice udder and a moderate efficient frame. She is offered along side her W Sunrise Executive 4J daughter.
AI bred to HAROLDSON’S AH LEGEND ET 36L on May 10, 2024. Exposed to BLAIR’S DECLASSIFIED 648G from June 6, 2024 to July 10, 2024. Favourable to HAROLDSON’S AH LEGEND ET 36L
Blair’s Barbara Bea 519M is our first female to offer from W Sunrise Executive 4J and we are very impressed with the first calf crop. A great heifer for a young junior to start off their Angus program.

A couple of years ago at Agribition we stood second in class to a beautiful made heifer named Sarita that Blairs.Ag was showing. She went on to win a very competitive junior division. Later that fall Sarita 547J was the talk of industry selling to an international partnership for $100,000. She comes from the finest outcross Argentine genetics. Combine this new cow line with the rare and powerful Sitz Barricade and you have the Sarita sisters at Wilbar. We love the dimension and rib these heifers have. Soft in their make-up and elegant with their presence. Two maternal sisters sold last year in Opportunity Knocks 4.0 bringing $50,000 and $16,000. If you are in the market for an extremely quiet show heifer or possibly a unique breeding piece, take your pick…we love them both!

She is sired by the $270,000 ¼ interest, record selling Coleman Glacier 041, who has produced multiple sale features and high sellers across the US and Canada. 628M’s dam, Wilbar Barbie 5D is a model Angus cow with loads of body in a beautiful maternal designed package. Dexterity’s dam hails from one of the most successful cow families in the Musgrave herd, the Lady Barbara’s. Blackcap is out of a broody Rewind daughter, a textbook type of cow, big ribbed, balanced udder and very productive. It started when we purchased the pick of the SSS cowherd for $41,000 with Niobrara Ranch in Nebraska and one of the very successful flushes was to Mann Red Box. Jessie 128J was a result of that flush and went on to be a graduate in Opportunity Knocks 2.0 where she was purchased by Carlos Ojea from Argentina. Our partnership with Carlos allowed her to reside in Lanigan. She has matured into an absolutely gorgeous, powerful female and she will be our lead Red Angus donor going forward. Her udder is very similar to Bar E-L Erica 74A which is a crazy statement to make but it’s true. She is bold ribbed, deep flanked, big boned and great tempered. We love to be around her and we love to show her off but honestly she does that all on her own.

Simply put, Duff Lady 2X 1620 is the exact type of female we’ve been searching for to be at the forefront of our donor program. Her ability to combine an incredible look, flawless foot and leg structure and perfect udder with genuine body and power is nothing short of elite, making the choice to purchase her as our next donor from Duff’s last fall a no-brainer. She’s been labelled one of the best red Angus cows in the breed by multiple industry leaders, backed by one of the most admired cows to leave Canada and the most prolific donors of the famous Duff Power Plus program, Lady 2X. Her generating potential is evident in her incredibly stout, big ribbed, perfect uddered HD daughter, highlighting our sale group this year. To top it off, she’s still maintained such an impressive phenotype that we halter broke her this summer to debut at this year’s Canadian Western Agribition! Now is the time to capitalize on one of the nation’s most appraised donors of any breed.

Kevin has been encouraging us to consign a feature cow since we joined the sale, but, quite frankly, we’ve tried to ignore the suggestion and instead focused on selling bred heifers and calves. However, persistence pays and here is our first ever cow consignment to the sale. Red Wilbar Blockana 305E is without any doubt one of the most impressive females on the ranch. Massive bodied, tanky, robust, powerful are all words that come to mind when describing this cow. She encompasses an incredible amount of base width and passes it on to her progeny. She is from the same Blockana cow family that produced the $25,000 Red Roundup heifer to Rohrich Cutting Edge Ranch and our treasured 357X donor. 305E’s sire Wilbar Speed 32A is a son of the famous Wilbar Cora 443P. He consistently made productive, beautiful uddered females that were front pasture type cattle. Pair all of her strengths with a natural service to the recently crowned Supreme Champion, Hennessy, or his sire, Highlight, and you’re looking at a remarkable addition to any herd.

We have two flush sisters on offer, and we feel they exemplify what we are looking for in our Red Angus herd. These females have the ideal foot and leg structure, and they have some serious power but are still super angular through their front end with the ideal Angus skull. The high-selling bull in our bull sale last year was a full sibling to these two and follow suit.
Red Blairs Cheta 45Z was a cow we bought back in 2012 from the Blairs.Ag crew and has been a cornerstone female for us here at Blairswest with 40 registered progeny. Over the years we have retained many females from 45Z, and without having her around the ranch anymore there will be limited opportunities like this.
Sugrland 11L is dark red in colour and long bodied, and it looks like she’ll have a nice udder when she drops her Metric calf in the new year. Her Terron Parker dam is one that we find very ideal on the ground, and she also has a real nice Duff HD bull calf that will be a highlight in our first-annual live bull sale, held at the farm on March 13. This Renown female is very angular fronted with a neat and tidy Angus skull. 58M is a great example of a heifer that carries some serious bone dimension while striding out on a large foot. The PTO dam is one that was highly commented on at the North Central Saskatchewan Angus Tour that we were graciously fortunate to host this summer at the farm. She is a super tanky, easy fleshing female while having some added look.
Blair’s Yankee 116M is the calf at side of our red pair this fall. She is a Sunberry Dominion 158J daughter with great balance and shape. I am excited to see how she matures for her new owner as she has all the tools needed to be a real good one. Expect a real nice udder and a female that converts in a very efficient manner.

Our first set of Metric calves are definitely checking all the boxes, and 12M sets the standards fairly high. She has some backing with cows like SSS Jessie 261Z and Rainbow Doll 46B, so this heifer has cow power written all over her. She is pretty headed, dark in colour, and functional in terms of foot and leg structure with a sweeping rib cage. This one would be deemed a “sleeper pick” in fantasy football terms come sale day.

Red Wilbar Angie 851M is a classy heifer that has caught the attention of all who have seen her on pasture. Our daughter Kylie had her picked out for a potential show heifer for next summer which spurred us on to the idea to sell her in Opportunity Knocks! She is bold in her rib, big topped and up headed. Her hair coat is dark red and a pleasure to work with. The Angie cows are the type that quietly go about their production, consistently putting bulls in the sale and heifers in the replacement pen. They are big bodied, wedge-shaped cows that look good while getting the job done.
This end of February heifer has brood cow status in her future. She is as dark red as you could make one and man oh man is she stout. Her sire Highlight has been on quite a run as of late producing multiple high selling bulls the last couple years including the $70,000 Hennessy to Rohrich Cutting Edge Ranch and the $45,000 Tannerite to DK Red Angus in addition to past high selling females to RoyMac/Rocky Top Cattle Co. $20,000 and Blairs.Ag/Arrowsmith $21,000. We have a full sister to 897M in production that was one of our favorite 2 yr olds this summer. Proven maternal genetics here folks.

RED RAINBOW DOLL 46B
AMBUSH 57E
INATEX 57H
The first offspring of the $120,000-valued Metric 106K—what a good way to start off our red heifer calf division. 6M checks a lot of boxes for us here at Blairswest in terms of growth and structural correctness. She’s one that is well described by the word “big”: big boned, big footed, and big, sweeping rib cage. Her dam 57H is going to be a name known around the ranch for years to come (her daughter 51K sold as a bred heifer through O.K 4.0 to Mexico). She was recently slapped Grand Champion Red Angus Female at Manitoba Ag Ex and has booked a trip to the CN Beef Supreme Challenge at Canadian Western Agribition.

It’s a great feeling to see previous Opportunity Knocks graduates come back in future catalogs. Blair’s Yankee 129K is a perfect example of that as she was a part of Opportunity Knocks 3.0 where she sold to Carlos Ojea from Argentina. You will get to see for yourself how she has developed as she is our Red Angus pair that we are showing this fall along side her Dominion calf. She is moderate made, great haired, balanced and has a great udder. The dam Yankee 12W has been the highest earner in our Red Angus program.

Plus, her exciting outcross pedigree with Black Ink on the top side and Monique 571E, a cornerstone generator of replacement females, on the bottom side makes her a truly unique breeding piece. RED DOUBLE
There is no better feeling than to repeatedly watch a mating knock it out of the park, year after year. For us, that is our Red Box x Lark 9Es. 9E was the 2018 National Champion Red Angus Female and has since made a name for herself in generating elite daughters to highlight our sale offering each December. Like her past sale feature sisters, 415 has a next level look, perfect body shape, and incredible hip and hind leg design with an awesome hair coat and bomb-proof disposition. This kind will be fun to show next fall and even more exciting to breed around. Take the guesswork out of the equation and keep arguably our favourite of this highly sought-after mating in mind on sale day. Entered at Canadian Western Agribition. Retaining the right to two successful flushes (minimum 12 eggs) at the buyer’s convenience and seller’s expense.
If you’re on the hunt to dominate with a bred next fall, put your chips on 402. This Red Eye Special daughter stemming from our cornerstone donor, Alice 131D, has all the intangibles to become an extremely competitive show heifer and an even more valuable breeding piece. Geek-necked, stout-made, and equipped with the most perfect yet dense set of feet and legs. Look at the lineup of front-pasture females on the bottom side of her pedigree. Incredible quality with a proven cow family will always make for a smart investment. Retaining the right to two successful flushes (minimum 12 eggs) at the buyer’s convenience and seller’s expense.

Not only is it important for our donor cows to be able to produce high quality flush calves, its equally as important that they can raise one themselves. 805M would be 173H’s natural born calf and for sure our favorite from day one. She’s elegant made with lots of rib shape. Sound in her structure and loves to hold her head high and always demands your attention. 173H came to us as the high selling black bred out of the JP program, she packs a punch with how much shape and muscle she carries while remaining feminine fronted long spined. Hennessy 3K is one of the most unique herd sires to come out of the Wilbar program in recent years. He combines breed leading performance with elite calving ease. You could call him a curve-bender. He has a tremendous amount of bone for a Red Angus and stands on a big foot with lots of heel. His dark red color compliments his soft, easy fleshing look and he has passed this on to his progeny. Hennessy’s dam is a beautiful, broody cow with as much rib and middle as any cow in the herd. Her udder quality is as close to perfect as we can produce. Hennessy was recently crowned National Champion Red Angus Bull at Farm Fair International and Supreme Champion over all breeds.
