elcome to the 2018 Canadian Western Agribition Show and Sale in Regina. We, in the livestock industry, can be very proud of the scope of this feature event which attracts seedstock producers and dignitaries from countries around the globe. The Agribition logo is the “symbol of excellence” in livestock production and is recognized by all languages. 2018 boasts the best lineup of breeding stock ever selected for the Agribition sale and that is quite a statement after the success of 2017. The herd sire prospect will be a definite feature, ideal for any type of breeding program. The picks are exciting, giving the new purchaser an opportunity to obtain the finest from a program; while the females offered are dynamic, destined to make elite foundation females, many of which will become donors and mothers of superior herd sires in years to follow. The genetic pool assembled is filled with unlimited opportunities…many of a competitive nature!

We are all aware of the impact Charolais influence has on the commercial industry. In the purebred industry, the return on investment on bred females is amazing; as in many cases, the first bull calf produced pays for the breeding package. The problem lies in sourcing a package of good young cows…you can find them but they are seldom for sale. Only in a sale of this caliber can you get “pick” of the herd quality. Plan to be with us at Canadian Western Agribition for the showcase of the Charolais breed. With the sale on Thursday and the show on Friday, you will be treated to great breeding stock, combined with wonderful hospitality and fellowship. It will be well worth the trip! If we, at T Bar C, may be of any assistance prior to or sale day, feel free to contact any of the T Bar team for professional and confidential assistance.

Fantastic opportunity here! Justify is one of the best bulls ever raised here at Harcourt Charolais and we are extremely proud and excited to offer him in such a prestigious sale. After being successfully shown beside his outstanding mother this summer, excitement is continuing to build and for good reason too. He’s super stout, big hipped, smooth fronted and has a great skull. His genetics only elevate his value. Milestone is an exciting new sire in Canada and has proven himself here at Harcourt Charolais. He stamps all his calves with sharp heads, solid foot and leg structure and that easy fleshing ability. Herd bulls come from great mothers and Justify is no exception. HBC Echo 614D is the type of cow people strive to produce. She’s got that explosive barrel, gorgeous udder with perfect teat size and one of the deepest lower quarters we’ve ever seen. She moves like a cat and catches everybody’s eye on the move. We think so highly of this bull and the cow family he comes from that we are retaining a ¼ interest. HBC Justify 812F has the potential to leave a long lasting imprint on someone’s herd, let it be yours! Homozygous polled, leptin tested CT. Retaining ¼ interest, selling full possession.

PICK OF THE KLR HEIFER CALVES

Lot 203

Elder Charolais Farm is pleased to present, what we consider, a great opportunity to add a functional female to your herd! We are offering the pick of our entire KLR heifer pen here at Elder Charolais. It was difficult to pick just one offering for this sale and thus we are excited to have you come to the farm and critique the heifers for yourself. You decide! You can take home the one which will work best in your female program. We have a great selection of heifers sired by our proven sires: Elder’s Blackjack and Kay-R Extender; as well, we are excited with the job our new sires: HVA Baron, WCR Commissioner and Sharodon Double Vision are doing. Whether it be a clean fronted, soft made, eye appealing show heifer - to raise you those stylish heifers that lead the way in the show ring; or that powerful long spined, deep bodied heifer with some overall mass - that will raise you those top end bulls and replacement females; we believe there is one here to meet the needs of any operation out there! We will have three heifers on display this fall for you to scrutinize. These heifers are a good representation of what our female program has to offer you. If anyone is planning on attending CCYA 2019 in Weyburn, this could be a great opportunity for you as we will take her home, breed her the way you want and deliver her to Weyburn. Pick to be made before March 21, 2019.

SELLING CHOICE OF 2018 AGRIBITION HEIFER CALVES For the first time ever, we will be offering choice of every heifer calf we’ll be showing at Agribition 2018! The varied, yet proven, pedigrees and cow families involved make this a very unique choice. You’ll be choosing between daughters of the outcross Debruycker sire, CJC Symbol, the calving ease, highly maternal, SVY Grizzly and the show stopping, MCF Bohannon. As powerful as these sires are, the cow families behind these females take no back seat with their family lineage tracing to such notables as the famous Gerrard Evetta, Bar K Vision 57T and VCR Miss Mac IV. The foundation has been laid and the guesswork eliminated making this a productive and rewarding choice whichever the chosen direction!

You really have to admire Vivian for the way she is put together, super long made, big bellied with a clean and feminine front end. She gets out and moves freely and is structurally sound. We absolutely love the udder that her dam possesses, being ideal in its type. Her grandmother was a cow that was in our flush program and was here till she was 14 years old. The Vivian cow family has always been one of our top performing families at the farm consistently having bull calves right up at the front end every year. This coming year we are highly anticipating our Downtown females entering into production, they are super consistent in their type, easy doing, soft made females that have a second to none disposition. We don’t think there is any guess work on what Vivian can do once she enters into production. Take her home sale day and reap the rewards.

Mark Fendi down as one to watch for on the show road! We think you’ll really like our 2018 Agribition offering. Fendi is out of 176W, one of our nicest made, most consistent, top producing cows in our herd. At nine years of age, she looks great, is maintaining her youthfulness and udder quality and has a good disposition. She goes back to Original who has sired some of our favourite females here at HBSF. Her 2014 and 2015 daughters are easily some of the best looking females on our farm. Fendi is a ¾ sibling to El Paso, our 2017 high selling bull purchased by Steppler Farms Ltd. Their sire, Escobar, was the 2015 high selling bull at A. Sparrow Farms. Fendi is an exciting opportunity to add these quality genetics to your herd! Escobar’s real strength might be in producing females. Our first calf, Escobar females were a must see at our 2017 bull sale. They are shaping up to be a really good looking, great haired, consistent set of females with beautiful, tidy udders and a nice teat size. Fendi is a great structured, moderate, well balanced heifer with tons of hair, shape and presence. We think with these predictable genetics she will be an asset to any program! Add Fendi’s style, fashion and quality to your program!

Envious is one of the reasons we feel Downtown will leave a lasting impression on the Charolais breed. When we talk about brood cows that will produce long term and yet maintain themselves in a commercial environment, the Downtown progeny provide that combination. Envious has a versatile pedigree and can be a cornerstone female in any breeding program. Her maternal sister was a high selling female to Elder Charolais in our Volume I Sale. We are confident 297E has the pedigree and phenotype to make a sensational cow. AI bred to WCR Commissioner 593P on April 7, 2018.

LAE X-TRA STYLE 65X

Ben came and picked her because just like her name, she has style backed by a pedigree full of great ones! Probably the last calf to sell out of LAE X-tra Style 65X that puts the top ones out every year. A few years ago we sold a half sister to Style in the Agribition Sale that Dennis Serhienko bought and now we are offering our daughter’s 4-H project. She is going to be missed for sure but Ben says you have to sell the good ones! AI bred to MCF Bohannon 305A on March 25, 2018. Pasture exposed to Annuroc Epidemic 5E from April 10 to June 20, 2018. Ultrasound confirmed.

We are pleased to sell this Braxton heifer in one of the world’s biggest stages, the CWA Charolais Sale. At this calibre of sale, we offer one of our best, DSY 255E. She is sired by Sparrows Braxton 519C, 2017 high selling bull in Canada. This past spring it was evident that the commercial industry embraced the Braxton sons. Braxton’s consistent calving ease and explosive growth generated high demand for his sons. As our Braxton females develop, we value them more and more. These stylish, Braxton females are deep chested, correctly structured, with sound udders. DSY 255E ultra sounds safe to her April 1 observed breeding date to our elite heifer bull Pro-Char Winchester 6D. Pasture exposed to Pro-Char Winchester 6D from April 1 to May 22, 2018. Observed bred on April 1, 2018.

The Semen Auction is a fundraiser run by the Canadian Charolais Youth Association (CCYA), where semen from top bulls in the breed are generously donated from various breeders across the country. All funds directly support the youth. The semen donated is auctioned off at one of the fall sales and all proceeds go towards programs of the National Board. Particularly, leadership scholarships are presented at the conference and show from funds raised through the Semen Auction, recognizing senior members on their contribution to the Charolais breed and their leadership among other Charolais youth members. The CCYA National Board would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported in the past for making our programs and scholarship opportunities possible for our youth.
