With the pairing of Riddler and Lotto in his pedigree and his physical attributes we seriously considered keeping this guy back for our own use. Rattler’s dam is a deep bodied very tanky Lotto 52Y daughter we purchased out of the Black Sand Dispersal. She’s the kind of femlae you expect to produce top end herd bulls. Rattler’s pieces fit together to make a smooth shouldered, smooth sided, strong topped individual. We like the fact that he is in the top 10% of the breed for YW as well as in the top 15% for CE. We feel very confident in saying he’s the kind that will add strength, uniformity, and power to any breeding program. CE

LFE THE DARK NIGHT 350U LFE BEST LADY 47W TNT TANKER U263 LFE CHARO 3N Sire of lot 1 - 8. Riddler supports his numbers with equally impressive hard data on his progeny. Riddler’s calving ease and performance attributes are a rare combination that we couldn’t pass up especially once we saw his high maternal calving ease numbers. That look Riddler puts on his calves combined with his DNA assets set up the making of a Simmental legend in this $170,000 super star.

4

He’s been very consistent in his development. We like him now every bit as much as we did at a month of age. That’s no surprise as his dam has been very reliable in her ability to raise top end bull calves and bring them home in the fall in superb condition. Sons have sold to Les Jacks, Arnold Ste. Marie, Tom & Pat Dooley, and John Grant. His numbers put him in the top 10% for WW and MCE. He’s deserves serious consideration as there’s a lot more that comes with this Riddler than just his good looks. His dam traces back to the mother of Muirhead’s “Bill” bull. WLB 388D

We’ve long admired the job that the 39S cow does on her calves. This goggle eyed Riddler son is a good example of her good work ethic. Just think of being able to sell a pot load of calves with his look and his pounds. Lot 9 certainly has his ducks in a row. There isn’t a lot I would want to change about Go Daddy. He let it be known early in life, what he stood for and hasn’t strayed from those statements. Go Daddy is very complete in his skeleton and muscle and that’s why he will be used at WLB. His massive rib, extra deep body, and full to the brim quarter are what champion bulls and carcass leaders are made of. His stride is reaching and it sets down on a sure foot. The flex and looseness he has in his joints while still expressing a big bulging stifle is nothing but “Cool”. There’s more icing for his cake too. His dam is a daughter of Springcreek Blk Tess 25T making her a maternal sister to Springcreek Lotto 52Y. She is only a three year old and Go Daddy will be her second son to be used at WLB. Her first son WLB Salute 51Y 368C ran with our yearling heifers last year and will find use here again. Go Daddy’s $61,000 dollar sire, MRL El Tigre 52Z, needs no introduction as he is well on his way to becoming a breed legend perhaps only to be out done by his sons. Kopp as we call him is predominantly a maternal influence bull that contributes a nice set of numbers to his progeny. His daughters give our black program something to build off of as they make very attentive mothers with a mild attitude. There are a number of his sons in this sale that can certainly provide a similar benefit to their new owner.

I can’t even remember when it was that we first met George Webster, founding owner of Winchester Cattle Company. Our acquaintance soon grew into a strong friendship that has meant a lot to Nancy and myself. George is well versed on Hereford pedigrees and cow families. Especially those at WLB. George became very good at identifying our top cows and plucking out their best daughters.(eg. Powerball’s dam and Anser’s dam). We are very pleased to have Winchester Cattle Co. remain a part of this WLB event. WCC cattle are now kept with Bryan Fossay, Fossay Beef Farm, Woodlands, MB. Pictured is the Winchester crew. L to R: Charlie Webster, Ed Lavalle, Tim Nelson, and George Webster.

Need more depth in your calves and cows. Then you need to have a look at this red eyed Tonka son. He may well be the deepest bodied Hereford bull ever produced at WLB. He has the Blanche 127J cow on his bottom side. She’s the queen of deep. It will be very interesting to see the udders on his daughters once they get in production as both Sweet Pea 20W and Blanche 127J were two of our best uddered Hereford cows. Deep square udders with small teats and full of milk all the way to weaning. WLB 128D

Doug Troop purchased his first purebred Hereford when he was 14 from RJ Kerr in Portage. He has held a life membership in the Canadian Hereford Association ever since. That was 48 years ago. Doug and Jayne now run a 200 head cow herd offering purebred Hereford bulls as well as F1 baldy females. I have had the privilege of walking through Doug’s cowherd and it is very evident that he is a stickler on milk, square udders, good feet, and strong cow-families. We are pleased to have Doug join us for this bull sale and look forward to what his solid reputation and strong breeding program will bring to this event.
