Design scheme is to emphasize the pattern of The Ruin extracted from the site and portrait it at the frontal facades of entries, emphasising the entry through the cafĂŠ. In this project, it is aimed to accentuate the existing atmosphere with well decorated interventions and lighting. A series of models making were employed for ideal result.

institution of soil casting – Given that the site is the basement of former Bank of England, I choose to emphasize the underground texture and the positive and negative shape of basement. I started experimenting with soil casting and decide the building would be a lively advertisement of the technology that consist a testing ground with the building on top that inhibits researchers and testing facilities.

civic centre – a public building that consist of public service and debate chamber, designed to be a main stop for visitors to Tynemouth, which provides a viewing platform that allows passers-by to overlook the debate chamber as well as to admire the great view of the Ocean. It also provides other facilities like restaurant and crèche to the public. At night it glows at the edge of the cliff and acts as an inhabitable light tower of Tynemouth.
the reason of the slanted roof was to respond to the shape of the castle. creating a balanced view from the main street.

the house to host- A house that is for a young couple who like to invite friends over with restricted space. The idea is to utilise circular form to eliminate left out corners and to increase flexibility of furniture. The ground floor is comprised of a circular living room with a retractable bed when there are visitors staying over nights. The first floor is the private area with bedroom and a multifunctional study room which is a walk in wardrobe as well.
