al is definitely the man! Welcome to our first SYM-Hollywood special edition! We are excited to bring you a premiere of what we hope to be very informative as we continue to grow and target a market of quality film and stage production in the mainstream, independent and Caribbean markets. TBS’s hit sitcom Men At Work starring our cover subject, actor James Lesure, was the inspiration that spawned the launch of this issue, and will pave the way for many other talents featured on cable and mainstream media and create an opportunity to be in featured in upcoming SYM publications. Speaking of mainstream, I just had to share with you all my number one heartthrob, and BEST actor of all time, Alfredo James…‘Al’ Pacino! Well, not only is he handsome, and most people would agree that Al pulls you in when in front of the camera. He’s a natural, very believable and takes his characters to the level of perfection. Needless to say, I am a HUGE fan! Scareface, is the powerful Pacino epic that goes down as the number one gangster movie of all time in this editor’s opinion. None other comes close in either numbers or global popularity. Then of course, there is the masterpiece Godfather trilogy where Pacino delivers his irreproachable performance as Michael Corleone. Do we ever grow weary of these flicks? The bottom line is, I personally love Al Pacino, the actor and also as the man who has worked hard over the years to bring quality to his craft. His passion for his God given talent is evident as he continually to gives back to legions of aspiring actors and is a standard of excellence to aspire to. Earlier this year President Barrack Obama honored Al Pacino’s outstanding contribution to the arts and his humanitarian efforts. My favorite line from Scarface…“Say hello to my little friend!” Al, SYM-Magazine salutes YOU and the entire entertainment community at large!

Torri worked a number of menial jobs before joining The Department of Conservation in Montgomery Alabama where she currently resides. She has evolved and grown with the department over the past 14 years and more recently has been invited by two sitting governors to speak before the legislature and others dignitaries regarding the the program which started the ball rolling for her and her experiences of growth along her life’s journey. Much more cool, calm, and collected than his current character Gibbs on TBS show “Men At Work”, - SYM Magazine caught up with Actor, James Lesure. In the role of Gibbs, James is a photographer and a ladies’ man working for Full Steam Magazine. The comedy series chronicles his daily work life, as he and his co-workers bond as friends and navigate the dating scene. Gibbs is portrayed alongside his buddies as they all sensationalize the topics of sex and women. However, to the contrary, James’ personal demeanor seemed to be much different. Discussing everything from personal and professional goals to business advice and how his leisure time is spent, James provided insight as to what served as his overall life motivators.
We asked James what advice he would give to those with aspirations to pursue a career as an Actor. Although he was reluctant to give business advice, James did share that knowing your craft and believing in yourself are two of the biggest assets to have. “I went to the University of Southern California and received a Theater degree. I also studied abroad. Be comfortable and confident. Get experience”. James mentioned there was no direct blueprint to becoming an actor but knowledge and faith in your talent were not to be underestimated. On one particular episode, Gibbs and his buddies were discussing a concept termed as “CryMaxing”. Inquiring minds wanted to know, because this term was a popular hash tag on tweeter immediately after the episode was aired. So we asked him to elaborate on what exactly that meant! Instantly, we chuckled and Mr. Lesure dished on the subject. “CryMaxing is the next level. It’s the plateau’s plateau”. I nudged him a bit more and he continued, all the while smiling. “It’s a combination of physical and spiritual ecstasy...pleasure in a new realm...out of this world”! I couldn’t help but to laugh. As the conversation was at its climax (pun intended), I wanted to know exactly how James suggested one would achieve this kind of maximum pleasure deemed “Crymaxing”. He offered a few tips for the fellas! “Do push-ups. You need physical exhaustion to lower the barriers...and if you and your lady reach this plateau at the same time, which is the goal, you will be on a rocket ship to blast off”! James Lesure’s character, Gibbs, seems to be doing a lot of women chasing at work, at which he is successful but in real life - we wanted to know what he did as his personal life work. Impressively, he said he wanted to give back and help establish more recreational spaces and parks. It was also important for him to give back through education and help with the beautification of areas. He recently used his celebrity to help build a home with Habitat for Humanity. In his spare time, James enjoys being just as cool and calm as he sounded. Spending time with friends and family while eating, drinking, and relaxing or at a cookout is what he enjoys most. When he mentioned how much he enjoyed dining out and eating a good meal, something he and I both have in common, I asked him can he cook. James is not a cook so he did profess his need for a good cook in his life. Ladies, any takers? James also enjoys traveling and believe it or not, has never been to Australia. He plans on getting there really soon. In closing, I asked him to share one thing that people may not know about him. His reply, “bubble machines.” I was utterly confused and tickled at the same time. “I like bubble machines. I am actually headed to Target right now to find one and get some bubble solution. I like to blow bubbles. It’s relaxing”. James Lesure was named one of the next generation’s leading men by GQ magazine and one of the hottest bachelors on television. He has his eyes set on major roles in the near future, and hopes to work alongside some of his idols, such as John Malkovich and Jeffrey Wright, to name two. James enjoys playing characters that are light-hearted and possess a balance between drama and comedy. He continues to be a community example and whether it is in film, theater, or TV - James Lesure will always accept roles and projects that he can be personally proud of. Follow the hit sitcom on twitter @menatworktbs and James Lesure @jameslesure or @ www.jameslesure.com Stay tuned to Men At Work, on TBS each Thursday 10pm/9pm central time

wanda mckiver I think the question is what I don’t love about stage productions. I laughed when asked that question because there is absolutely nothing I don’t like. Stage productions, a good one that is, will leave you wanting more. It will have you singing songs you may have never even heard of, your emotions will come around in a full 360 degree turn around. You will feel uplifted at the end. I believe stage productions are the heart and soul of the playwright times three, simply because not only can you see the playwright’s vision, but if the production is a musical you will feel their heart beat through the music that is chosen. It amazes me when I meet someone who admits they have never seen a live stage production, however I never ask why.... I quietly whisper to them, Why Not? Her next production At The Gate, rings OF A Tony possibility! Will your waiting be in vain at the gate? Experience At the Gate and see how changes come in many forms; however time as usual is not on your side. Ms. McKiver stays true to her irony style of writing, dramatic directing and her love for musical flare with meaningful lyrics. PHOTO: ATU

Heartthrob, sexy sculptured and stylishly fashioned icon Neil Pearl’s objective is to unite, solidify and make stronger the image of the Caribbean Islands with his unique ILand brand. ILand Apparel and ILand Magazine conceived only eight months ago, has been featured in a number of fashion shows and local events throughout the country. So who is Neil Pearl? A humble yet very focused Jamaican born in St. Andrew. Neil lived in Portmore, St. Catherine before migrating to the United States and is now based in Brooklyn New York where he is well known in the ‘party circles’ as an accomplished promoter. When asked why his parties are so popular, he points out, “People attend my parties because I create something different each time. They expect more than the ‘average’ at my parties. They feel classy, special and ‘in with the in crowd’, the way today’s celebrities party at VIPs clubs.” I recently attended the ILand Magazine launch party at the popular Negril Village in New York City where I had the opportunity to speak with a supporter who shared with me that Neil is the “Prince of Parties” and has been known as such since the late 90’s. While Neil sets out to bring a sense of solidarity and swagger to his parties, his entrepreneurial vision is also very evident through his ILand brand as well. He has successfully taken his eight month old creation to high level of media visibility, which most start up projects are unable to accomplish in as much as say, 3 years. Neil has done so in less than a fraction of that time.
Fast forward to his next venture; like a jeweler stringing pearls, Neil is adding yet another ‘pearl’ to his list of achievements. Acting happened for him by chance initially. Although somewhat inexperienced, but no less talented, he had to audition as though he was a seasoned actor for his first part. “Screenplay Writer Demedrius Charles, saw me and recommended that I audition for the co-starring role in his upcoming film project, Broken. Intrigued and up for the challenge, I decided to pursue this opportunity” Neil shared with me. He further stated that the transition into acting was extremely challenging, as his demeanor is somewhat reserved and soft spoken despite his “Prince of Parties” moniker. Nonetheless, he was determined to bring life to his character, Solomon, who is Lisa’s (played by actress Lauren Smith) husband Smith plays an international student from St. Lucia, living in the United States, who is about to graduate after a three grueling years of college but is then suddenly burdened with enormous financial hardship while attempting to continue her education on an expired student visa. The years of juggling two jobs, paying for school, a husband and living between New York and St. Lucia, finds Lisa unable to keep a steady job and additionly trying to cope with a vicious and insecure female boss. The entire situation is wearing away at her resolve. The love she has for her husband and the numerous job possibilities awaiting her as a CPA are all she has to keep her going. However, her marriage and dreams are jeopardized when in a moment of weakness she sleeps with a smooth talking gentleman which results in an unexpected and unwanted pregnancy. Broken is scheduled to be release late fall 2012 and is expected to do exceedingly well, and will most certainly showcase another aspect of Neil’s many talents which will certainly surprise his fans. Broken is written by Demedrius Charles and directed by Courtney Everett. Neil Pearl is a talent irrefutably destined for legendary greatness. Join Neil Pear on Facebook at email@example.com
“Related Affairs” overwhelms you with love despite the painful judgment of one’s sexuality. An illicit, sensual, and tasteful story about two strangers who truly love each other.

Paul values the bond he shares with Anna; she has proven her love and compassion for him regardless of his inner rainbow, which is priceless. Anna’s parents are disgustingly rude towards their daughter’s decision to be friends with a homosexual. Being Jamaican native, Anna’s parents endure the social and financial fall out of their daughter’s association with Paul. Tilsa writes a compelling fiction which is trendy and yet real to many people. A native Jamaican, Wright courageous and tastefully sheds light on this controversial topic.
