Aziah Stevens

Mentee, SWSG Program

Aziah Stevens is an incoming fifth grader at Aliquippa Elementary School. She has been a participant in Strong Women Strong Girls for a year. Aziah stands up for what she believes in and shows her peers and her mentors what it means to be kind and a good listener. She is always asking questions and trying to better herself. Over just one semester, her SWSG mentor saw how much progress she made and how much she grew. Aziah takes what her mentors and teachers teach her and incorporates those values into her life.

Aziah’s favorite subjects are math and science. In science, she really enjoys learning about bugs and biology. She also likes to write and draw art. Each year Aliquippa chooses a theme to decorate the halls and they ask the students to help with their own art—this year’s theme was Pittsburgh. Aziah participated in decorating and creating art for this project. You could tell how excited she was about the walkthrough event; she was proud of her work and was thrilled to share how they brought important Pittsburgh community aspects to their school community in Aliquippa.

“She has such a big heart and a passion for art and helping others. I think she is starting small with helping in her school community, but I believe she will do big things one day and help make an impact on the world for women and girls of the Pittsburgh community,” Aziah’s mentor said.

Aziah enjoys making new friends, playing outside, and playing with her siblings. She cannot wait for fifth grade and is excited to go on field trips this year with SWSG!
