The Gilt Issue
Swede
Dear Friends, This issue highlights all the gold objects in Paris. Parisians certainly have a love of gilt. The first thing you notice in Paris is that so many things are covered in gold - interior and exterior. Fences, statues, paintings, frames, door hardware, furniture, china -- just about everything. You can’t walk down the streets of Paris without seeing gold in every direction. Each trip to Paris I spend time photographing every detail of beauty so I can share them with you. I love architectural details of all kinds so spend 8-10 hours a day walking all over Paris searching for something unusual to capture. On my last visit I brought back 3,361 photos. I have organized several photo flipbooks by color and this one is devoted to gold. I hope you enjoy seeing my snaps. Colleen Stratton Martin Founder Swede Collection, LLC www.swedefurniture.com
This flipbook is best viewed on a desktop screen, if you want to see all the details. Make sure you hit the arrows to enlarge to full screen. Viewing on your phone just won’t do the photos justice. Beauty is in the details, and here there is no end to details. As a visual learner, I am on a constant search for beauty in all its forms. Yes, I am the one on the castle tour taking photos of all the door knobs! I am just amazed at the level of talent and skill craftsmen had in the 1700’s and 1800’s. In some way, I want to honor that talent. I am so glad much of it has been preserved for us to see today. I have just skimmed the surface of what there is to see in Paris. I hope this booklet inspires you to see the depth of beautiful details and perhaps inspire you to go to Paris and see for yourself. Enjoy!!

At Swede Collection, we use Italian gold leaf on many of our furniture pieces. I thought you might like to take a closer look at some of what me make using gold leaf as accents.
These pieces can be seen on our website, www.swedefurniture.com and on Dering Hall and Chairish. See our full page ads in Milieu magazine starting September 1, 2018.
