CHOCXO TOUR – BEAN TO BAR CHOCOLATIER Two dozen SWE OC members, friends and family met up at ChocXO in Irvine for a walk through the process of creating the tasty treat that we enjoy. We learned about the chocolate making process from “bean to bar” We learned how chocolate is sourced, fermented and dried. We viewed into the windows of the ChocXO factory to see the machinery that makes it all happen. Samples of raw cacao pulp, cocoa nibs, cocoa liquor and finished products were tasted. The warm, dark chocolate fountain out of the wall is a favorite. Everyone was able to select some bars to take home. Cocoa beans from around the world makes this an educational, fun and interactive experience. - Kimberly Roberts

OCEC AWARDS NIGHT Two of our members, Kanchan Swaroop and Pedro Cordon, were awarded with the Orange County Engineering Council (OCEC) Outstanding Young Engineer Award. We enjoyed dinner and a keynote speech from Sabri Sansoy, CEO and Roboticist at Orchanic. There was also an engaging presentation about NASA’s Cassini-Huygens mission to Saturn.
