CEMETERIES • Cross Cut Cemetery, located approximately 23 miles northwest of Brownwood on U.S. Highway 279. • Connell Cemetery, located 3 miles SE of Brownwood on Farm-to-Market Road 2525, right on county road just before FM 2126. • Elkins Cemetery, located on CR 269 and CR 264. Take Austin Avenue south to FM 2126, continue straight south on CR 247 for approximately 7 miles to the junction of CR 269 and CR 264. Cemetery is on the left. • Eureka Cemetery, located 2 miles west of Blanket. Follow U.S. Highway 377 eight miles east toward Comanche. Note “Eureka Cemetery” sign, turn left and follow road two more miles. • Fairview Cemetery, located on Highway 279 North to FM 1850. Turn left; travel through Grosvenor and cross FM 585 onto CR 108, follow road one mile. • Heflin Cemetery, located on U.S. Highway 183 North through the community of Owens, to FM 1467, turn right and travel two miles toward entrance. • Mud Creek Cemetery, follow U.S. Highway 84 west from Bangs one mile; turn north onto
FM 585, continue one half-mile past FM 2492. Turn west onto county road and continue one mile to cemetery. On south of highway through cattle guard. • Staley Cemetery, located on CR 338; take U.S. Highway 183 North to CR 339. Turn right, or east, and continue for one mile. • Windham Cemetery, located 15 miles North of Brownwood on U.S. Highway 183, then nine miles west on FM 2273; and then one mile South on FM 2559. • Wolf Valley Cemetery, located near the May community, approximately 24 miles northeast of Brownwood at intersection of U.S. Highway 84/183 and CR 259. • Zephyr Cemetery, located near Zephyr, approximately 14 miles southwest of Brownwood off U.S. Highway 183.
CHURCHES • First Baptist Church of Bangs, located at 401 South Second Street, Bangs. • First Baptist Church of Zephyr, located at Dillon Avenue and Second Street, Zephyr. • Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church, located on the corner of Beaver Street and Cordell Street, Brownwood.
• May United Methodist Church, located at 18001 U.S. Highway 183 North, May. • Rocky Creek Baptist Church, located near Lake Brownwood, take U.S. Highway 279 North about seven miles. • St. John’s Church, located at 700 Main Street, Brownwood. • Zephyr Presbyterian Church, located at Bowsal and Second Street, Zephyr.
• Brown County, marker located east of Brownwood city limits on U.S. 67-84-377 in roadside park. • Brownwood, marker location at 500 East Commerce, inside Ben Lednicky Park. • May, marker located at U.S. Highway 183, right-of-way. • Thrifty, marker located 10 miles north of Brownwood on U.S. Highway 279; then 2.7 miles west on FM 2492 to right-of-way at junction with CR 105.
