Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) works to stimulate the country’s economy and industry. Formerly an agency of Jamaica’s Ministry of Industry, Investment, and Commerce, the agency is now part of the new Jamaican government’s super ministry under the Office of the Prime Minister: Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. JAMPRO emerged in 1988 from three separate Government organizations focused on investment, export, and industrial development. These three roots continue to inform JAMPRO’s aims today. At the heart of JAMPRO’s goals for the future is a desire to create an island that owns itself and is able to sustain its own broad range of industries from medicine to logistics to agriculture.
