We are proud that we are now considered a model of best practice for the third sector in Wales and that we were able to fly the flag for the movement and social enterprise! “ Swansea YMCA is very proud of their award and will continue to strive towards excellence in all areas of our work in 2014.
Being offsite has given us a unique opportunity to work with the local community to offer targeted workshops and events and participatory activities open to everyone. We run practical art and craft workshops for adults, over 55s, families and children, where participants can develop their art PRESS ME! skills in a range of media and learn from practicing artists. We work in partnership with organisations to deliver skills based learning for adults with learning difficulties and young NEETs (not in education, employment or training).

PROJECT IMPACT This month we have had confirmation of an Arts Council Wales grant of £22,000 to support our Arts programme at the YMCA. This funding will help us to roll out one to one music tuition and group arts workshops. The project starts now and will last for one year. Our aim is to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or challenging situations to gain new practical skills as well as improving their confidence, communication and wealth of experience.
