Why choose fibre cement slates? •

Dimensional Stability SVK slates offer structural consistency, requiring no preliminary grading before fixing. This combined with their ease of installation results in considerable savings in time and associated costs on site.

Easy to Work With

The strength and stability of SVK slates make them resistant to breakage and very easy to work with on site.

Due to their light weight, SVK slates do not require a heavy load bearing roof construction, which means less timber is required for the structure.

In order to prevent moss growth, special moss inhibiting constituents are added to the double coating.

Environmentally Friendly At SVK we take our environmental responsibilities seriously. Along with using organic fibres, SVK slates are also coated with a high-quality and durable acrylic paint, which is water-based.

Range of colours and accessories Choose between 3 colours: blue-black, Welsh blue or premium black. Our wide range of ridge tiles and other accessories helps you to achieve a perfect finish to your roof.

Easy to handle SVK slates are strapped in easy to handle bundles.

Why are SVK slates the best quality slates in the market? •

Strongest slates

SVK slates are the strongest slates available on the market. No other slate comes close to our values concerning bending strength. This is achieved because SVK exclusively use and source fibres of the best quality.

Our slates are extremely durable. The water absorption of our slates is, on average, half the value of other manufacturers. SVK is the only manufacturer who applies a double paint coat on the front side, the back side and the edges of the slates. This low water absorption enhances the durability of the slates, it is out of the question that they would suffer frost damage.

Most beautiful slates SVK slates are the most beautiful slates. SVK knowingly chose to apply the final coating on the face side of the slates with a “paint curtain”. This way the surface of all our slates is much smoother and more beautiful than when the final coating is only dispersed.

Furthermore, in 2008, SVK invested in the installation of the most modern paint line in Europe. This technical leap enables SVK to produce slates with an extraordinary high UV-resistance, a super smooth surface where moss doesn’t attach and an unequalled paint adhesion.

Extremely durable

Quality of the paint coat The quality of the paint coat on our slates is unequalled. SVK has more than 70 years of experience in preparation and application of paint.

Strongest class SVK slates belong to the strongest class (Class B) in accordance with the European Standard EN 492. They offer the most comprehensive range of certification, underpinning their quality and reliability.

Why are SVK ridges the best?

SVK has invested in a state of the art production line for the production of ridges. All SVK ridges are injected in a mould and fully compressed during their production. This production method results in ridges of unsurpassed quality.

Strongest ridges SVK ridges are the strongest ridges on the market. No other ridge comes close to our values concerning bending strength. This is achieved because SVK is the only manufacturer who presses their ridges during production. Because we press our ridges, we achieve a much higher volume mass and bending strength.

Very durable SVK ridges are very durable. Because they are pressed, our ridges obtain a much higher density than ridges which are manually manufactured. This high density also largely diminishes the water absorption. The low water absorption rules out that our ridges would deform or suffer frost damage.

Quality of the paint coat The quality of the paint coat on our ridges is unequalled. SVK has more than 70 years of experience in preparation and application of paint. This technical ability and the fact that our ridges have a very low water absorption, enables us to produce ridges with an extraordinary UVresistance and an unequalled adhesion of the paint.

Ridges

SVK slates should not be allowed to become wet during storage or transport as this may cause efflorescence staining as a result of water accumulating between the slates surfaces. If stored outside for short periods, the hood should be removed and the slates should be covered with a vapour-open, watertight tarpaulin.

Guarantee SVK slates meet the requirements of EN 492. All SVK slates have a 30 year manufacturer backed structural guarantee if fixed in accordance with the Irish Code of Practice ICP 2:2002 and our Technical Information. Cromleigh and Ardonit Plus slates have a 20 year colour guarantee, Ardonit slates have a 10 year colour guarantee.

Storage and transport

Lead Patination oil should be applied immediately to all lead detail on the roof to reduce the risk of staining to SVK slates.
