This new patented technology, developed by SVECOM PE, represents an answer and a concrete solution to technical needs discussed in a Fair in 2009 .
OUR CUSTOMERSâ€™ REQUESTS Referring to the use of non-expanding devices (e.g. pneumatic tire or mechanical chucks) particularly with ovalized cores, they asked for a new technology providing: - more safety - faster handling processes - longer cores lifetime - less rolls waste
We noticed the need to increase the diameter difference between chuck and core, downsizing the chuck diameter and improving expansion to safely grip the core.
The chuck weight came out to be an essential evaluation element: a too heavy chuck weight implies less working safety too light chuck weight could instead bear on chuck quality and lifespan it could also crush rolls (FLAT-SPOT)
The expansion is mechanically achieved by large internal close-wound springs, that load a plunge and operates a leverism system expanding plastic rawlplugs. Expansion occurs operating a valve and spilling air. The chuck is collapsed using compressed air at 4-6 bar to unwind the springs and retract the plastic rawlplugs.
This is a pneumo-mechanic failsafe design: without air the chuck is expanded, gripping the core. Perfect cores centering is achieved through a double mechanic espansion leverism system. Each single system works independently form the other.
Both mechanic leverism units, together with the close-wound springs, ensure constant core-gripping. These two independent leverism system units provide: - a mechanical advantage that can correct out of round cores - greater transmission wrench.
All chuckâ€™s moving parts are made of treated steel Other parts are made of aluminium to slash chucks weight.
This ensures: - longer coresâ€™lifetime - much higher rotating speed - the complete unwinding of each roll - less roll waste -No brecking core plugs
Chucks expand more than 20mm allowing easy insertion into damaged, OVALIZED or badly worn cores.

This patented, innovative technology eliminates any operatorsâ€™ errors even in case they do not expand the chucks properly , or they under inflate the chucks , causing slippage or damage to the cores during the unwinding process.
