This year, in our seventeenth year of hosting Sutton Trust Summer Schools, the University of Cambridge is giving even more Year 12 students from across the UK the chance to experience a taste of university life. We have nearly 550 places available across over 26 different courses. Academic Programme The courses are intended to provide participants with an insight into the academic life of a first year undergraduate studying at the University of Cambridge. Students are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sessions led by some of the leading academics in their field. These sessions will include lectures, seminars, discussion groups and practicals, offering a chance to experience at first hand the challenges and rewards of studying for a degree. Each academic course is diverse and demanding. In past years, students have taken part in activities such as composing music to suit a piece of art, working on projects in museums handling valuable artefacts, dissections for Biologists and Medics, and participating in a mock murder trial on the Law Summer School. We are looking for students who are enthusiastic about their subject and will apply themselves throughout the Summer School. Our Summer Schools provide an in-depth and stimulating insight into your subject of choice and a chance to stay in student accommodation in a very special university setting.

Other Activities During the Summer School there will be time to find out about applying to university, as well as the opportunity to talk to Admissions Tutors about courses on offer and making an application to Cambridge, including what to expect at interview. Students will meet current undergraduates who will be at the summer school all week, providing academic and pastoral support and answering questions about life as a student at Cambridge. Of course the University of Cambridge isn’t just work, work, work! Like Cambridge undergraduates, you too will have your own room within a Cambridge College for the duration of the Summer School. The College will also be the main setting for evening social activities including tours, games, punting on the River Cam and a celebratory dinner. All our Summer Schools will offer you a challenging and inspiring academic programme, the chance to meet lots of other students from across the UK and find out for yourself about life as a student at Cambridge! Please note: It is not necessarily expected that applicants to the Summer School courses will have studied that subject before, unless stated otherwise in the table on page 18 or on the detailed information on our website. Please visit our website for detailed information about each subject Summer School course, including the dates on which each subject will take place and previous participants’ views on their experiences. www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/year12summerschools
