The Climate Action Hub is a gathering space that deals with all things Climate Change. The main objective is to EDUCATE people (Museum) about the effects of climate change. By becoming a green building, it would DEMONSTRATE SOLUTIONS to the visitors. It will start CONVERSATIONS among people and spread the word. It will also give the people an OPPORTUNITY (Retail spaces) to employ these techniques in their own lives.

Hence placed in an area which has scope for the same. This area also has water problems and the project would help the community around by demonstrations of water sustanability techniques.

The main concept for the design of the museum is to weave a story through the journey in the museum through the sequential exploration of spaces. Series of galleries, past of climate change, present scenario, causes, impacts, solutions when viewed in a sequence adds to the overall experience of the museum.

STUDY AREA: Gandhi Bazaar OBJECTIVE: To learn about documenting urban contexts and to understand the idea of urban space. To create architecture that fits into shaping urban fabric. LAYER DEALT WITH: PUBLIC REALM AND STREET EDGE. Here we documented the various factors that affected the urban street edge including vendors, parking, trees and analysed how it affects the spatial quality.

Biogas plant: Waste produced in Gandhi Bazaar converted to electricity to provide lighting for street vendors to create a moral obligation in the vendors to keep the streets clean.

Concept:

To have green areas and gardens accessible at every level in the form of terraces or roof gardens.

To understand the difference in housing as a process and a product, the role of an architect in creating the product and facilitating the process. To understand needs of privacy, communal spaces, efficiency of open spaces and ideas of extended living areas.

Small courtyards for adjacent buildings

Large communal spaces for the whole complex

Communal activities like clubhouse placed towards the lake. Housing units placed to the back of the site ensuring that all have view of the lake.

SEMESTER 4 PROJECT SITE: Mangalore, Karnataka AREA: 1300sqm BRIEF: To understand the meaning of

physical context of built environment and techniques of reading such context.

C O N C E P T

Ideal location due to protection from hardh sun. Recieves moderate wind speed. Has a good view of both river and sea. Exposure to harsh Western sun and very high wind velocities.

HEAT INTENSITIES

Harsh southern sunlight and very high wind velocities. WIND INTENSITIES

Protected from harsh sun and wind but views towards the sea are blocked.

Most common type of construction of buildings is along the slope using cut and fill

Concept is to have the building protruding from the hill such that the experience of the height is felt.

Site was located on a steep sloped hill on the shores of Mangalore.

movement, scale, structure and skin in the evolution of form. Space making through the use of material, texture and scale.

Interior Design 13 BOHEMIAN THEMED RESTAURANT The word Bohemian is associated with gypsy and an unconventional life. Characterised by war colors, mix and match of multiple colors and patterns that wouldn’t go together in a conventional manner. Also characterized by vintage furniture and antiques from all over the world.
