roncos and Nighthawks recently put aside their rivalry for a day of fun and friendship at the Rancho Bernardo Community Park. The Rancho Bernardo High School (RBHS) and Del Norte High School (DNHS) boys basketball teams hosted a collaborative field meet for members of both schools’ Best Buddies programs. The day started with food and socializing before the games began, followed with the awards presentation. “The best part of this is that it was all the idea of the DNHS and RBHS basketball coaches!” shared Jennifer Conlon, Resource Specialist and Department Chair at DNHS. “They’re hoping to break down the ‘rivalry’ wall between the two schools by using the awesome kids involved in Best Buddies!” Best Buddies high school programs provide opportunities for one-toone friendships between students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
