While an estimated 67,000 people died from drug overdoses last year and numbers are expected to climb this year It is estimated that more than 23 million people are actively involved in recovery programs for alcohol and drug addiction and it’s working! New studies show that more than 50% of the U.S. population has been affected by addiction, either directly or indirectly by a family or friend’s addiction Governor Rick Scott has declared the opioid epidemic a major health crisisfor the State of Florida Surviving Addiction is Possible! SOAR will air on Friday evenings from 5-6pm on 92.1 and 103.1 (FM) and 1010 (AM) and will explore the various recovery avenues and how they are impacting our communities for the better


What is SOAR? REAL PEOPLE REAL EXPERIENCES REAL RECOVERY

An estimated 23 million people across the country, from all walks of life, have chosen a life of recovery and are beating the odds of addiction. Hear their Stories of Hope! Recovery isn’t just for Addicts: hear stories of how friends and families are also choosing recovery and learning to cope with their loved ones’ addictions Each week SOAR will discuss the impacts of addiction such as incarceration, foster care, loss of loved ones to suicide and overdose, mental health, criminal activity, etc. and how recovery programs can help minimize these problems While not affiliated or aligned with specific recovery programs, SOAR will explore the various features of programs ranging from Twelve-Step and SMART recovery to faithbased and self-empowering recovery programs Each week, SOAR will highlight upcoming addiction and recovery-related events throughout the community to include opioid summits, candlelight vigils, legislative town halls, education, etc
