March 2013

For F/W 2013 Tracy Reese put together her distinctly polished, ladylike look with modern prints, stylish hues, and fashionable accessories. Punk culture was the inspiration behind her latest collection, differing vastly from her typically classic design appeal. However, she successfully did just that by embracing bright, bold patterns and pops of color, which made for an astonishingly energetic visual display. Praised highly in the media for her A-line dresses, she didn’t neglect them here, designing the popular garments in trendy metallic shades. Drawing on a bit of wild inspiration, there was no lack of fun animal prints on the runway. The patterns turned up on skirts, coats, and sweaters, receiving a classy Tracy Reese spin. Though dresses are typically her main focus and a classic staple of her past collections, Tracy’s outerwear garments were just as gorgeous including a neon and leather coat. By using floral and plaid patterns, Reese completely strayed from the typical trends of winter fashion. Sequins shone brightly under the lights, and the layering of different designs and textures created a show that stood out among the rest. Audiences will remember Tracy Reese’s FW 2013 collection for a long time, and we will surely see more of her in the future. Text: Brooke-Ashley Peterson Photos: Semant Jain, Ph.D.
