SUMMER OF LOVE Raffles Jazz Performing Arts Centre
What is the nature of genius and what should we sacrifice for it? Can it be taught or is it inherited? Is the exceptional mind completely rational, or is there great method behind madness? Raffles Players is proud to present David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize winning Proof, a play
which offers surprising insights about the nature of mathematics and family, intelligence and genetics, and the ties which bind all of us to our pasts and to one another.
13.5 | SAT | 1500h From its early days in the seedy entertainment houses of New Orleans, on the fringes of mainstream society, jazz music will forever be rooted in American counterculture. Today, 50 years on from the summer of 1967, we celebrate the spontaneous and irresistible gathering of youths that was the Summer of Love in San Francisco. Stage diving straight into the spirituality and humanist values embodied by the hippie movement, we will experience the highs and lows of love and romance; weather the scorching heat and
pouring rain of spring and summer; and experience a musical genre like no other. We will experience the highs and lows of love and romance; weather the scorching heat and pouring rain of spring and summer; and experience a musical genre like no other. Songs from the 1960s and ‘70s will be the mainstay of the concert but as the timelessness of jazz would have it, Summer of Love is inspired by music spanning its entire history. So turn on, tune in, and drop out.
2:59: MINUTE TO TEATIME Raffles Chamber Ensemble Lecture Theatre 2
This year Raffles Chamber Ensemble proudly presents to you, 2:59: Minute to Teatime. Presenting a light hearted approach to this matinee, Chamber Ensemble seeks to enact a whimsical and fun “afternoon tea time”, allowing you to indulge in the luxury of the rich centuries before our own in renowned pieces from the Nutcracker Suite. However, this concert is not merely for the laid-back individual. Be prepared to revel in the
adventurous tunes from John Williams trilogy (such as E.T., Superman, Star Wars), the intense melody of Danse Macabre and to satiate your soul with emotions in Joe Hisaishi’s Departures. For all you know, you may come to realise through this concert, that classical music may be your cup of tea.

RPROJECT 2017, ORIGINS Raffles Runway Multipurpose Hall
Where does it start? Where does it begin? Origin. “Origin” is often associated with cycles — whether it is the cycle of life or the cycle of natural wonders. All that begins eventually comes to an end. For our graduating show, we felt that the theme “origin” was extremely fitting as it forces us to reflect to the “origin” of our Runway journey — to the early days when we were novices in designing and creating garments. Flash forward to the present when we have learnt many new skills and tricks of the trade. However, the wide-eyed amazement and passion for runway that we had since the “origin” of our
runway journey still prevails. For RProj 2017, through the theme “origin”, we plan to showcase our originality, assimilating the love for runway that we ashare, with the craft that we now have better honed, hopefully showing the audience how far we have come since the “origin”.

ROCKOUT 2017: SPACE ODYSSEY
A space is merely physical and unfeeling, holding no purpose or significance to it. Yet a simple emotional bond can anchor a sense of purpose and meaning to it, transforming it into a place worth treasuring.
In this exhibition, we’ve explored a variety of locations throughout Singapore, from the heartlands to the bustling city streets, to find the perfect site to capture the essence of what a place means to us. Hopefully, you’ll be able to identify with these familiar landmarks and relate with the nostalgia and comfort that many of us felt in all these different places. Most of all, we wish that you will gain greater perspectives of what makes a space a place, and that we can inspire you to embark on your own journey to explore the spaces and places that you encounter everyday.
Join us for an out-of-the-world experience on 26 May. at *SCAPE, as we transport you into outer dimensions with mind-blowingly good jams. From electrifying rock sing-a-longs, doleful indie tunes to pop classics, we guarantee an enjoyable time for all. See you there!

SANGAMAM 2016 Indian Cultural Society Performing Arts Centre
Sangamam is RI ICS’s flagship event aimed purposefully at bringing out cultural and art talents of our members through a stage show. Each member has the option of choosing how he/ she would like to showcase his/her talent, be it performing on stage, or designing tickets and publicity material. Sangamam has exposed many hidden talents through this rigorous process of preparing for the event, and provides our members with a platform for self-discovery. The preparation process also inculcates team spirit, understanding and cooperation between members of the CCA. However, we are confident that it would be as much of an audience-pleaser as it has always been.
