Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Sciences Drama Concentration Associate in Arts (A.A.) The Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Sciences Drama concentration enables students to develop and refine performance skills, technical crafts, critical analysis and aesthetic appreciation in preparation for academic success in baccalaureate transfer programs in theatre studies or related liberal arts disciplines. By offering students courses which reflect a diverse set of global and cultural perspectives, the program expects students to explore and reflect on human endeavors in the context of nature, the arts and society. (a) To fulfill the Civilization requirement, students must take one of the following sets of courses: (1) HIS 125 Western Civilization to 1650 and HIS 234 World Civilizations Since 1600; (2) HIS 232 World Civilizations to 1600 and HIS 127 Western Civilization Since 1650; (3) HIS 125 Western Civilization to 1650 and HIS 127 Western Civilization Since 1650; or (4) HIS 232 World Civilizations to 1600 and HIS 234 World Civilizations Since 1600. Students who are intending to transfer to a SUNY school are advised to take either set (1) or (2). (b) One semester of a language other than English is required, though a second semester is strongly recommended. ASL 121, ASL 122, SPA 115, SPA 116, and FRE 111 do not satisfy this requirement. ASL 121 or ASL 122 can be taken as liberal arts elective or a restricted elective. (c) Courses with the ANT, PSY, and SOC prefix satisfy this requirement. (d) All courses with the ECO, HIS, PHI, and POL prefix satisfy this requirement. Students intending to transfer to a SUNY school are advised to take a semester of American History. (e) Students should carefully review the science requirements of the college to which they plan to transfer before selecting science courses. (f) Restricted electives can be selected from any ASL, ART, DRA MUS, COM or ENG courses. Some of the courses are not threecredit hour courses. Students must select combinations of courses so that the three credit hour minimum requirement is fulfilled.
