People’s Attitude Towards The COVID-19 Pandemic 28% in the study believe that taking precautions can protect them to some degree, but for the most part, it’s about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. #COVIDIOTS aside, recent statistics released by PsychTests.com reveal that the majority of people are taking the pandemic seriously, and are cautiously optimistic about the future. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought out the best, and in a few cases, the worst, in people. There are helpers and there are hoarders. There are philanthropists and there are profiteers. There are people who are cautious, and people who are careless. In spite of the fallout of the pandemic, there are some silver linings, according to recent statistics released by PsychTests.com, based on data collected from their free Pandemic Resilience Test. Not withstanding the economic downturn, rising unemployment rates, obsessive hand-washing, and the need for isolation and social distancing, people are striving to be conscientious, compassionate, and hopeful. There’s an old joke about eating Chinese food that says after you’ve had a big meal, you’re hungry again a half hour later. That may be true for us but probably also for them too because the foods they have an insatiable appetite for can literally kill you. Iguanas, koala bears, pelicans, dogs, cats and especially bats. Eating bats is literally batshit crazy and harvesting bat guano (excrement) to diddle around with the viruses in their feces is probably what has put us in the two-month Corona lockdown and corresponding economic meltdown we’ve been suffering from. COVID-19 is far from the first time we’ve taken a lethal hit from China. The 20th Century saw three flu pandemics (aside from regular, seasonal flus) originating from China. Some suspect that the 1917-1918 pandemic originated here although this can’t be conclusively proven. However, the origin of the 1957-58 pandemic was most definitely from East Asia. It killed as many as 116,000 in the US out of a population 174.9 million, or nearly half the size of the today’s US population of roughly 330 million, so the

Assistant City Manager/CRA Executive Director Our next HBCRA Board & Directors Meeting will be held virtually on May 18, 2020 at 5:30 pm. City of Hallandale Beach Begins First Phase of Reopening The City of Hallandale Beach has begun to reopen slowly and carefully and has implemented a new emergency order that allows for limited activities at designated parks in Hallandale Beach. The parks will have opened to public access on a limited basis commencing on April 30, 2020. Designated Parks are Joseph Scavo Park, BF James Park, Foster Park, Foster Park Plaza, Ingalls Park, Peter Bluesten Park, Hallandale Cemetery (family visitations only) and shall be used only for passive use such as walking and jogging. In addition, the opening
and use of pools and/or pool decks may open at the discretion of multifamily housing developments, condominium developments, condominium hotels, and single-family homeowner associations. All other recreational common areas, such as gyms, hot tubs, and sauna rooms, are required to be closed until further notice.
