What is the NDIS? The National Disability Insurance Scheme is the new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. The NDIS is the insurance that gives us all peace of mind. Disability could affect anyone – having the right support makes a big difference. The NDIS will start in Queensland from 1st July 2016, and be fully implemented by 1st July 2019, with around 97,000 Queenslanders eligible to receive support through the scheme. Under the NDIS, people with a disability will have choice and control over their disability supports, including choosing who and how these supports are provided and managed. People who meet eligibility criteria will be able to access all reasonable and necessary disability supports, as agreed in their individual plans, to live independently in the community and to work towards achieving their goals and aspirations, over their lifetime. Please visit to download brochures and booklets, fact sheets and general guides on how to prepare and plan for your future. There will also be up to date information about the scheme, plus information on providers who are registered to deliver supports or products in alignment with your plan enabling you to reach your goals of what a good life looks like for you. Alternatively, feel free to contact us and allow us to help step you through the process.

Puppet Troupe

A Disability Education & Awareness Program Our puppets are a bunch of life-sized puppet kids who all have various disabilities. They present themselves as regular kids whose bodies do not work the same as other kids. They will share how they think and feel and for some, how difficult it is for them to move or communicate. They are not only entertaining, but do normal things like bike riding, swimming, sleepovers, camping, parties and just hanging out with friends. Our Puppet Troupe • Available to visit schools, libraries, childcare centres, community groups and playgroups, or come and see us at Our Backyard • Aimed at prep and school aged children • Promotes positive inclusion for kids with disabilities • Helps break down the confusion and misunderstanding surrounding disability • Helps kids learn about acceptance, understanding and compassion • Helps discover that everyone has differences • Will have both children and adults learning from this positive experience Our Puppet Troupe will engage both the schooling and general community, and will invite the audience to ask questions, as this is how kids love to learn. If you would like our Puppet Troupe to meet you, or you would like to learn more about our program, please contact us.
