Meditation is touted as a great stress reliever. Okay. But what is meditation? Meditation can be whatever you want it to be. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. You do what feels good to you. If you like your eyes open then leave your eyes open. If you want to pay attention to your breathing then do so. If you want to lie down then lie down. By the way, do you know what it means if you fall asleep when you lie down to meditate? I will tell you in a bit. First I want to make the point that no one can tell you what is effective for you. And no one can tell you what will work for you. In fact one technique may work on some days while a different technique works on other days. Nothing is set in stone. The only thing you want to know is going within and quieting your mind, even if for just three minutes, will make a difference in your ability to focus and stay alert. Oh that reminds, the reason you fall sleep while meditating is because you are tired OR that you are going to a place within that allows you to access information that will reveal an issue you are finally ready to tackle. Whenever you find yourself in a situation where you start to yawn or keep falling asleep, know that you are either very tired physically and need rest OR your ego is trying to protect you from learning new information about yourself so that you can change. Your ego does not want you to change. It may lose its power over you if you suddenly take charge of your life at a conscious level! So when you find yourself feeling sleepy ask if you are sleepy tired or sleepy want to avoid a growth experience. Most growth experiences can be really challenging yet they are always opportunities for which you will ultimately feel grateful. Back to the original question regarding stress and meditation... When something comes into your awareness during meditation that you feel ready to handle know that you are also ready to release blocked energy that causes physical and emotional stress to stay locked in your body and energy body.

Yes, meditation can free up your stagnant emotions and give you the necessary energy to get through each day feeling better and lighter - and happier too. Meditation also reduces stress by giving you direct access to the Universal Mind, Oversoul, Mind of God (whatever term you use) so you can easily find solutions to whatever you want. Set an intention before beginning your mediation to make that connection and receive the information. Then allow it in.

And if you feel ready to take your first steps on your spiritual journey I invite you to explore the information and shared experiences available on Rev Ali Bierman's updates page at Find Rev Ali's gift for you, her ebook, How to Take Your First Steps on Your Spiritual Path in the sidebar on the right side of that page.
