POINT her SOUTH, to BERMUDA Join us in congratulating all the Atlantic Canadian sailors participating in this years bi-annual running of the ocean classic Newport-Bermuda Race. The crews on Odyssey, Ocean Wanderer, Wandarian, Pandora, Airborne IV, Dogsled are all headed south into the Gulf Stream for the warm waters of Bermuda. This is a race that tests the navigation skills of the best with the ever changing currents of the Gulf Stream combining with the changing wind and weather patterns down the 635 mile rhumb line. The first boats will arrive Monday and most will be finished by early Wednesday morning. Dreaming of this challenge? Contact us, we can help find the right boat and build a program to get you to the finish line in Bermuda.

BEACH BOAT- the NEW J/70 TEST DRIVE the new J/70 during the first two weeks of June on an appointment basis from LYC. We have launched her from the beach at the Lunenburg Yacht Club. With a sailing length of over 22' this is a stable upwind performer and the "quickest to plane" of any J/Boat yet - she'll plane in 12knots of breeze.

How much fun did we have? In a dying sunset breeze our fun meter hit 7.4kn! This boat is full of BIG smiles! Go day sailing fast and in comfort with her large cockpit and carefully designed ergonomics. See the video on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o8WPuZ_JrI - its only four minutes long call us and get in on the fun! BTW - you can have this ride for $399/m! (oac)

MOMENTUM was built in C&C’s Custom Shop (boats from this shop have been referred to as “Bruckmann built”). This family continues to build custom yachts in Canada.

Momentum follows the lineage of the custom C&C 44 race program and is the sistership of “Silver Shadow”. Momentum was built in 1985 for ocean racing and her construction includes features not found on production boats such as:

• • • • •

Kevlar reinforced hull. Carbon fiber wrapped stringers. Glassed hull to deck joint. Semi elliptical shaped lead keel.(see Photo 3) Heavy duty tie rods to transfer rig loads to the hull.(see Photo 7)

Momentum has been in fresh water since 1987 when she participated in the Chicago to Mackinaw Island race (a 333 mile rhumb line distance) and reached the Island in 40 hours. She was purchased by her current owner in 1992, who never raced her. (Not sailed hard and put away wet) Her interior has recent upgrades and now sports a cruise friendly interior. Under her VC-17 bottom paint are 5 coats on Interlux 2000 barrier coat. Owner is retiring and seeking to find a sailor who is looking for a high quality yacht that had a supporting role in the filming of “The Jackal” in scenes shot in a Chicago harbor. She is a must see for those considering an ocean thoroughbred on a conservative budget, and is seriously for sale, offers are invited but no trades accepted.
