Incan Mummies Found! Can it be true that scientists actually found Incan mummies in the mountains? Yes, and it’s because they were sacrificed for their religion. But that’s not the only type of mummies there were in this tribe. Mummies were made during 1438 to 1532 A.D. The only mummies were the royal people who died and sacrificed for their gods. They had their special positions to bury people like for the kings they would be placed on a special throne with their arms across their chest, and their mouth. They also say there is no actual record of this process. You can’t also see these mummies because they were burned when the Inca were conquered by Pizarro. The sacrifice children were recently found on high mountain peaks such as the Andes Mountains, and the Ancon along the Peruvian coast. Since they were high up in the mountains frozen their internal organs were found in good shape. Scientist also have important information on their life style today by the things they were buried with.

The appearances for the temples were similar to the pyramids. The temples and the staircase were always facing west. Gods were housed in the upper level of the pyramid to show that they were highly respected. Writing and artwork on the inner walls showed the Aztecs’ religious, social, and political practices. One of the best known pyramids is Templo Mayor, or Great Pyramid. The Great Pyramid was the most important Aztec temple. The Great Pyramid was enlarged several times. The Great Pyramid was sadly destroyed by Hernan Cortes (a Spaniard explorer). As you can see pyramids were one of the most important structures made. By: Diana Jasso

Mayan Architecture Have you ever learned about Mayan architecture? If you haven’t or if you have I bet you’ll still find it interesting.

Pyramids Mayan built pyramids reach up to 200 feet high without using any type of metal tools. Mayans built two types of pyramids: one was to be used by Mayans and the other was designed to honor a god. The pyramids that the Mayans used were used by priests. The other kind of pyramid looked similar, but these pyramids were not used, these were just used like a monument to honor the gods. Many of these pyramids were used as tombs for the royal family.
