Specialty Wax

Freeman Machinable Wax This revolutionary machinable medium is an extremely hard synthetic wax which exhibits incredible machining characteristics. Machinable Wax may be cut, shaped, or machined using standard woodworking or metalworking equipment. Excellent surface detail, quality of finish, and dimensional accuracy are easily obtained. Formulated & Manufactured by Freeman, Machinable Wax may be used for: • Proofing CNC Machining Programs • Producing Accurate Molds and Prototypes • Use as a Training Aid Material • CNC Systems Set-up and Demo Machinable wax is recyclable and reusable. By using our recommended procedure, Freeman Machinable Wax may be remelted and reused repeatedly without significant change to its original properties. Machinable Wax machines easier than plastic tooling boards or metals without sacrificing quality of finish, surface detail, or accuracy of dimension. It’s other advantages include: Non-Abrasive – unlike metal and plastics which can cause significant wear on cutting tools. Non-Toxic – produces dust-free chips that are odorless and safer to handle than metal or tooling board shavings. Self-Lubricating – enables all machining operations to be performed without the need for coolants or cutting fluids. May Be Glued – to produce large or irregularly-shaped pieces for machining with the use of 3M-90 Hi-Strength Spray Adhesive (Cat. No. 054515). Self-Releasing/Self-Sealing – tooling plastics, including epoxy, urethane, and silicone rubber may be used without sealing or releasing the Machinable Wax.

Specialty Wax Micro Wax

Beeswax

This petroleum-based wax is used for paper coating, as a potting compound (encapsulating electronic components), and as a sealant. It is low in odor and has a soft sticky feel.

Pure filtered (refined) Beeswax is molded into 1 lb. cakes for convenience. Contains no foreign material. It is a firm light-colored wax without the softness or stickiness of lower-quality waxes. Beeswax is commonly used for modeling, engraving, acid etching, finishes (leather, textile, wood), and various other applications.

Freeman Sheet Wax Freeman Sheet Wax is used primarily to simulate metal or part thickness when making die models or duplicator models from plastic tooling or plaster. Formulated and manufactured by Freeman, our Sheet Waxes are available in two formulations; No. 266 ThermoStable and No. 165 Regular. Both formulations are available in plain back or easy to apply adhesiveback styles. Freeman Sheet Wax is manufactured in 12" x 24" sheets with a guaranteed uniform thickness of ±.001.

165 Regular Sheet Wax This style is formulated to provide durability, pliability and ease of application while being stretch and moisture resistant. The physical properties of this wax are: • Uniform thickness accuracy of ±.001 throughout • The translucency of sheets up to 1⁄8" thick make it excellent for visualizing layout lines and transcribing engineering information • Light yellow in color

266 Hi-Temp Thermo-Stable Sheet Wax This style of wax was developed primarily for use with tooling plastics to prevent wax deformation under exothermic heat conditions. The physical properties that contribute to this wax’s popularity are: • Uniform thickness accuracy of ±.001 throughout • Firm surface for durability and depression resistance • Maximum flexibility for forming quickly and accurately to any contoured surface (more flexible than 165 Regular Sheet Wax) • Natural draping characteristics at room temperature and absence of memory (spring-back) eliminate the need to warm or temper wax • Medium brown color

Blind Gauging Wax

Freeman Core Vent Wax

Freeman Blind Gauging Wax is specifically designed to be used for the checking of clearances between the fan and casing during the manufacturing and maintenance of jet engines. Produced to a precise thickness, this specialty wax is colorcoded for easy identification on the shop floor. Blind Gauging Wax is manufactured in 1⁄ 2" x 11⁄ 4" adhesivebacked strips, packaged 100 strips per box.

Freeman Manufacturing & Supply Co. Core Vent Wax is designed to be used in any climate condition and to leave a very minimum ash content when dissipated. The primary use is to vent cores of curved or irregular designs. The wax is placed in critical locations in the sand as the core is molded. The wax is dissipated when the core is baked, leaving a clean vent of high permeability. Other sizes and styles of core vent wax are available upon request.
