WHAT IS THE HIKING CLUB? The Sun City Hiking Club offers approximately 100 hikes to our local mountains and deserts during our season (Oct-Apr) led by our experienced volunteer leaders. Hike selection includes Easy/Moderate/Advanced choices. Our Schedule of Hikes defines these categories. In addition, we offer several evening speaker presentations and dinners as social get-togethers.
WHO CAN JOIN THE HIKING CLUB? Residents of Sun City who hold a valid Residents Membership or Renters Card are eligible to join. Dues are $20.00 per person for our year which runs July 1-June 30.
HIKING SCHEDULES: Monthly Schedule of Hikes will be emailed to members. While NO printed copies will be available in the clubhouse kiosks, there will be monthly Calendars-at-a-Glance in the kiosks. Schedules and Calendars are also posted on our website. Refer to the first two pages of the monthly Schedule of Hikes for Hiking Club Policies and Readiness Criteria.
PREPARING FOR YOUR HIKE: Prepare for your hike by having appropriate footwear, clothing, water, and food/snacks. If you need assistance with any aspect of getting ready for a hike, please contact our experienced and capable Hike Leaders for advice and suggestions.
CHECK IN FOR YOUR HIKE: All hikes depart from the Lakeview parking lot, NE end. Check in times for driving to each hike are listed in the Schedule of Hikes. It is important that you arrive by the check in time to sign in, make introductions, and receive verbal directions to the trailhead and information about the carpool fees.
RULES ON THE TRAIL: These are group hikes, and you are required to stay with the group – behind the Leader and ahead of the Sweep at the end. There is no smoking on the trail. Full details are on our website.
WEBSITE: More Hiking Club information can be found at our website: scpdcaclubs.com/dev/clubs/hiking-club/
