The Eschenbrenner Award is named after tournament founder and PGA Golf Prefessional Hall of Fame inductee Bill Eschenbrenner. In 1974, Echenbrenner with the help of Stu Hammond and Herb Wimberly, founded what is now known as the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic to honor the nation’s elite golfers. The Eschenbrenner Award was established to honor those who have given back to the sport of golf and especially the All-America Golf Classic. The Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic is the only indivdual tournament in the NCAA. It is also an event that has awarded over $600,000 in collegiate golf scholarships to participating college programs. Recipient

Fuel to Achieve. It is the individual effort to achieve that helps build America. In sports, and in life. Our nation continually strives, reaches, does. It achieves. At Western Refining, we like to think we’re a part of those efforts. Our fuel helps jets fly and trains roll and machines run. We provide fuel that helps people get places and do things. We help people in their efforts to achieve. And we do it every day, responsibly and respectfully. We wish the best to all the players in the 2009 College All-America Golf Classic. We’re pleased that your individual efforts to achieve have brought you here.
